Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
Somebody said he wasn’t fit when he joined as he hadn’t been doing pre-season with Nice. Not sure if true but that’s where it’s come from, I think.
Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
Look at Villa’s second. He almost presented Palace with one in the first 10. Mavro is pretty much at least one mistake a game.
I can only assume it is assimilation factors keeping Todibo out be that fitness, settling into London or whatever.

Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
AWB didn't come in because Coufal made a mistake... but rather when he was deemed ready
It will be the same for Todibo
When he starts games it will be for the right reasons

The term "world class" is over used. Would he get in a world 22? No, then he isn't world class.BostonHammer wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 6:31 pm A world class center back who will surely be starting from hereon. Leave him out any longer and I'll start to get some serious Mullins v Mascherano vibes.
Over hyping him really isn't going to help if he has another shaky 45 minutes. The coach will play him when he is ready.

What is a world 22?
I reckon I could play in a team with 22 players and look pretty good

I heard the same. All parties thought he was moving to Juve and did not take part in the pre-season at Nice. As such, was not up to speed when he arrived. I think this may have come from Ex.

Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
I appreciate that match fitness / sharpness is a different beast, but surely there is a basic level of fitness that a 24 year old elite professional football player should have. I mean, he has been with us for a month now, it takes some players less than that to get match fit after an injury.
I very much doubt Todibo got to the end of May and then just on a sun lounger drinking margaritas for three months (fair play if he did)... so a month for a CB to get match fit is more than enough.
Hard to judge him on the EFL Cup game alone (so I am trying really hard not to), BUT, he looked like he didn't even want to be here that night and that is a concern. It looked to me like he felt he was all a bit too good to be playing against Brentford in a second string West Ham line up. He barely broke into a stride.
I hope I am wrong, but from the outside looking in, attitude seems to be the biggest issue with him. If he can't get his head around the fact that he is not at Barca anymore and that the Juventus move did not happen either... then we could have a real problem on our hands here.
Hopefully I am wrong, he is just a super relaxed player with a super relaxed style and it is taking him some time to settle in London.

Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
He’s certainly got all the credentials, and a month training with us should have him physically fit by now. Match sharpness is another thing, but with Liverpool in the Carabao and no PL game being easy at some point he has to get thrown in. I’m just wondering if Loppy will use Anfield to employ what most would see as his best team on Wednesday, in which case you’d expect Todibo and Fullkrug to start, and decent pitch time for Soler and Summerville. Unfortunately a lot of us are still scarred from last years abject surrender, not Loppys fault but another hiding up there with 6k travelling won’t go down well, so whoever plays it needs to be full throttle.

It could be that we go to Liverpool away with a back three. Almost ideal to bleed Todibo into the side if we do.1895Hammer wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 1:09 pm I’m just wondering if Loppy will use Anfield to employ what most would see as his best team on Wednesday, in which case you’d expect Todibo and Fullkrug to start, and decent pitch time for Soler and Summerville.
If he plays well alongside Kilman and Mavropanos, it will be easier to phase the later out of the line up.
541 defending with Kudus and Bowen getting up to support Fulkrug making it 343 in attack.

Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
I think the cup game at Anfield will be the time to throw in a lot of those players who are on the fringes and not getting game time. This isn't to say we will be fielding a weakened side, but it'll be a chance for those who have been fighting for a starting spot to stake their claim.
Todibo, Summerville, Fullkrug, Soler, etc. will all be seeing it as an opportunity. Hopefully they can take the chance they're given!

Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
After the last two performances from mavropanos
The only thing this can be now is they don’t fancy him at all and they don’t want to hit 5 games which activates the obligation.
There’s no way he’s not fit there can’t be any other explanation
If that’s the case they’d be better giving him back. I’ve got no idea if he’s actually any good but I’d be shocked with the type of teams after him he was worse than mavropanos

Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
His lack of fitness must be such that his legs have been amputated. That can be the only reason Mavrapants is keeping him on the bench.
Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
WHEN OH WHEN is this guy going to play linchpin in our 3-5-2 system, or even 3-6-1-1 far as i care.
It seems pace is the way to go in the premier league no matter how you dress it up, see palace esp under roy, and today and liverpool with salah etc under klop so we brought in slow and were still an old squad.
We need 3 5 2 pacy players pack the middle and don't give players time on the balls easy like for their second.
Shocking today

Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
When oh when is the lad going to play full stop!
Quite a few posters have hinted towards some sort of trigger clause when he's played so many games. If this is true, why have we got him?
Don't play him because then we have to buy him, so he just rots and never gets match fit. He's then no use to anybody, including himself.
Our recruiting system beggars belief at times.

Re: ✍ Welcome Jean-Clair Todibo
How unfit must this guy be to not get picked over Mavorpanos who casually jogs back towards his goal unchallenged watching Jackson taking on his teammate Alvarez with zero intent to do anything about it?
