A hypothetical Question
Now, we all know other threads are being hijacked with talk of if, why, who etc.
But hypothetically, should we choose to look for a new manager in the future, who tickles your fancy & why..?

Re: A hypothetical Question
Marco Silva is the one I wanted. TBH I’m surprised he wasn’t on Man Utd’s radar.
Would he come to us - I’m not so sure?
*when I’m feeling frisky I think Mourinho would be fun

Same, on both counts.ironilunga wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 10:54 pm Marco Silva is the one I wanted. TBH I’m surprised he wasn’t on Man Utd’s radar.

Fulham are playing some great football, Silva does have a very punchable face though.
I'm warming to him slowly.
Mourinho would just be great craic.
I know it would end in tears but whatever dross was served up on the pitch, he'd make it box office by his very presence.
I'd like to give Carrick a whirl, I think he'll develop into a fine manager.

Re: A hypothetical Question
Michael Carrick is probably the standout right now. I think fans will really get behind him. Well for the first 3 weeks anyway.

Re: A hypothetical Question
Guy that impresses me the most is Cooper, but I doubt he’ll be moving anywhere. Silva was dire at Everton, and gash at Watford. He also relegated Hill, despite a purple patch.
I’m amazed so many people rate the Brentford guy as his sides are negative cheats.

Re: A hypothetical Question
Iraola. Need someone to reinstate the good name of the Basque people in the east end.
Realistically though he seems like a good guy and I wouldn’t wish this ownership on him. We need a bit of a dick really, someone that won’t be chewed up and spat out by Sully.

Re: A hypothetical Question
Whoever Tim wants. Am still curious to see what he can be capable of if given far more control. Probably someone young and German.

I would like Graham Potter, as I would call him Brian (from Phoenix Nights), and this would amuse me greatly.

Re: A hypothetical Question
I cant watch as much as I used too but a few of the ones i would consider (that I know of)DublinDave wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 10:20 pm Now, we all know other threads are being hijacked with talk of if, why, who etc.

McKenna
Gasperini from Atalanta - multiple different teams, attacking, uses different players
Inzaghi
Iraola
Havent watched Carrick so cant comment on that one
Being an aussie I am an Ange man, or get me an Ange disciple. I love Ange because he thinks big he would try and win every game - and we may not get champs league but we would be top 10 with great football to watch for better and worse

Re: A hypothetical Question
I'm with DC on this. Iraola is a quality manager.
Potter has some talent and could do a good job. He's young so will continue to improve and change his tactics.
Sebastian Hoeneß.
Abel Ferreira is who I wanted before along with Amorim. One of them is gone now.

Re: A hypothetical Question
Will Still
Seriously though, you never know in football, do you. Emery got sacked by Arsenal & is doing great at Villa. I'm sure there's a few other examples of coaches doing great at one team after being sacked elsewhere.
J-Lo might still come good. Even if we lose against Everton I know he ain't getting fired. Sullivan doesn't have an itchy trigger finger.

Re: A hypothetical Question
My two favourite managers in the league are Emery and Iraola. We are getting neither, but I do think we could have had either in the past. Such is life. Iraola is now getting talked up as the possible Pep replacement, I would worry about his brain if he came here.
Potter feels doable but fun. Not against Carrick, per se, but it doesn't feel the right time. Same for Still. Would talk to Corberan. Would try to talk to Knutsen, but he seems to be happy where he is. I don't think O'Neil is a bad manager, either.
Bielsa and Gasperini are the dream types

Agree Wilko re Emery and Iraola. Cant see either coming here.Wilko1304 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 3:08 am My two favourite managers in the league are Emery and Iraola. I am a little uncertain re Carrick and Still, but they should be on the radar.
I like your suggestion of Corberan - seems to have done a great job with Sheff Wed and WBA, so he could be a good get.
Interesting you mentioned O'Neil, he may have something about him. Hes been dealt some rough opportunities at Bournemouth and Wolves and done really well.
This decision may come up sooner than we think too

Re: A hypothetical Question
Don't you think the question should be "Who would want to come to WHU"?
If I was a manager, I would most certainly want to very seriously consider the current environment. It ain't pretty.
No sane person would go near us at the moment.
Who runs the show? Who is answerable to who? Am I the manager or head coach?
Jesus, so many variables, so many people having their 2 bobs worth.
Personally, I wouldn't touch the job until I had an understanding from the board (read gnome), that I was in control, and that ain't ever likely to happen. A poison chalice.
Best of luck to the poor sap that is appointed.
Oh wait, the current guy hasn't been sacked yet!

Re: A hypothetical Question
Paolo Di Canio fits that bill. I think we would get relegated, but it would certainly have entertainment value. I can't see him being bothered by breaking the NDA's either.Moore_please wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 4:03 am Don't you think the question should be "Who would want to come to WHU"?

Re: A hypothetical Question
I’ve said before I think he might be a future England manager; seems to have a great temperament. The caveat I would attach is I don’t really know what I’m talking about.Colne Dynamo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 11:32 pm Michael Carrick is probably the standout right now.
