Last episode of Ludwig tonight and then I might move to watching Hannibal. Being a horror fanatic, it's quite strange how I've never got around to watching it before now.

The last episode of Season 3 of Ted Lasso. As FJ and UTJ said, it was hard work.

I know a few people who disliked the transition from Season 1 to Season 2, but Season 3 is without doubt the biggest drop in quality for a TV series since probably Dexter.
It was embarrassingly sentimental and disjointed.
The writing seemed rushed and the characters seemed to be undone. Garbage.

Agreed about Ted season 3. Everyone began to grate especially Juno Temple. The finale was okay though.

Watched the final episode of The Penguin never expected it to end with him running around with a flying umbrella and having a submarine with flippers as a base...or am I getting confused with the old Burgess Meredith version in the 1966 movie?

Good ending, I enjoyed the series a lot more than the Pattinson film.

MoviePass/MovieCrash.

A doc about two black guys who set up Moviepass. Basically for $9.95 a month you can buy a pass (in the USA) that will you to go to the cinema as many times as you like.

When the two gys were in control it was doing nicely and working well. Progress was slow but steady.

In come two "investors" who invest a packet from a hedgefund. The company expands astronomically and looks like it is doing well.

The investors bring in more coporate guys, have a board meeting and agree to get rid of the orginal two guys - and let them keep their shares that are valued at $80 mill each. But they can't draw/cash them for a year.

Within a year the new owners spunk all the money - private jets, massive parties, private boats - and when their first financial results are published - they are "$105 mill in the red.

The company goes bust, the original owners shares are worth zilch and eventually the new owners are put on trial for fraud etc. The case is still ongoing. They are facing multiple 20 year jail sentences if they are found guilty.

During this period the Moviepass business comes up for sale, one of the original guys that started the company rebuys it and is now running it a profitable business.

Moral of the story - a lot of these investors are really con -artists who get people to buy shares,whilst they use the company cash to lead a lavish lifestyle and then run the company into the ground.

An engrossing and informative watch if you love anything to do with the cinema/financial stuff.

Binged the first 5 episodes of ‘Day Of The Jackal’ yesterday and looking forward to the next episode later this week.

Completely agree with the earlier comment of it being Bond like (Daniel Craig Bond type). Not because of the MI6 element, just the who cinematic feel and location filming.

I've also watched the first 5 episodes of The Day Of The Jackal, and am now irritated to see that the next 5 are only going to be coming out one per week. It's been entertaining.

I agree with whoever said the casting could have been better.

Martha - Netflix

An icon in the US, maybe lesser known here. Basically Martha Stewart was the first "influencer" to understand the appeal of "lifestyle" and recognise power of mass media to deliver her own style and life tips to aspirational Americans as a business in itself.
Her brand was "perfectly perfect", and she became the first female self made billionaire off the back of that brand, then when its all going so well the **** hits the fan when she falls into the cross hairs of an ambitious US district attorney during the insider trading scandals that befell the US around the Enron failures.

The doc is well made but uses a very odd technique where the participant's other than Martha are seen only in archive and interviews are only heard over footage. Stylistically I think it works but might be something some find irritating and want to see who it is talking and what they look, like now.
Stewart is extortionary for her age, 83, still a powerful force of nature, she is still physically beautiful as is her home and apparent life, but she is utterly blind to her own failings, and passes off things that she judges others far more harshly for. Stewart was the focus of her fathers ambition it seems, she was beloved amongst her brothers and sisters, but it was not a healthy relationship, her Dad was both mentally and physically abusive to her, even in her later teens he assaulted her when Martha was giving him the best news she ever could at that point in her life. This relationship informs every aspect of her future self, the direction and drive that saw her achieve so much, and the emotional vacuum that we glimpse through out the film.
The final segment of the film is redemptive career and otherwise and is achieved via very surprising route.

haven't seen that one I think, maybe I have.. I KNOW I saw the Edward Fox one and iirc thoroughly enjoyed it. maybe because it was one of the first "almost could have been true" and read all of Forsyth's book after that....

All4 Walter Presents: Visions 6 parter watched over 2 nights.
Small boy who can see 'dead people' and draws things he sees which eventually leads to crimes being resolved as well as causing 'un rest' among his family and the community in which he lives.
Pleasingly understated supernatural tale with Leon Durieux outstanding as 9 year old Diego. That a kid can tell such a story mainly with his facial expression remarkable.
