Yes, but only if it's free as part of Game Pass once again.

Why so late? The season will be nearly over by then.

Apparently a pretty large overhaul of the system is taking place, and they've had to delay it as it wasnt ready yet for the usual release date.

That's a huge delay for a seasonal title. Problems at SI?

Complete overhaul of the engine behind the game, taken them by surprise the amount of work needed apparently. I was surprised they even said November originally, seemed odd they would be happy to release the game without international management.

I think they would be best off refunding all those who have pre-ordered, charge a small amount for an updated database for 24, and focus on getting everything right for 26.

Seems pointless spending £45+ on a game in March, when it will be replaced 7 months later.

They will never do that though as they are 1 game studio and the financial loss from not putting a game out will crush them. Sounds like they have had an absolute **** show with 25.

Development Update: Football Manager 25

A Message from Sports Interactive, An Update on Football Manager 25

Sports Interactive regret to inform that, following extensive internal discussion and careful consideration with SEGA, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Football Manager 25 and shift our focus to the next release.

I think it was inevitable really that the release was cancelled. I just think there are so many iteration's of the game with limited changes, plus going onto a new engine was always going to be a difficult transition! I'd previously been enjoying FM23 with a decent save and had downloaded 24 (free on epic games) with a view to play but haven't even got round to it!

Wonder if FM26 will be ready in time! :chin:

thing is, don't get me wrong, it has had the same problems since the year dot. I love the game and have been playing it from I think, 2001 maybe, might even have been 99/20 ? me and the lads I lived with, all trainers, played it non stop. we used to do things like a Brasilian club challenge etc. etc. was Championship Manager then of course.

the injury thing persisted forever. I understand that clubs have injuries. BUT. you could play as club X and get umpteen injuries. so then go play as club Y and get the same or similar injuries. go play as club Z and find it happens again. now it SHOULD be random but it never was. it was usually your star player(s). not some never sees the field kid or old bloke. and it was usually an ACL or broken leg. now I have been watching football a LONG time and broken legs are rare. it DOES happen but ACL injuries are more common. but you would get a broken leg or broken arm or that twice a season. PLUS and ACL.

this year in real life it seems there's been loads of real life long term injuries. maybe because players are playing more often, I don't know. but this has been happening for years and years now with CM/FM. buy new version, nothing is fixed and THEN they come out with a patch. bad enough the thing comes out well into the REAL new season. then another patch. it was always, imvho, hurriedly put out because they knew people would buy it.

and to be honest, other than a little tweak here and there, (manager's interaction with the press etc.) very little changed. yeah we got a new match engine, but was that enough to fork out another 50 quid every year for a new copy ? not imvho. and now they have really reaped what they sowed.

I forgot the last time I actually purchased one and just found a "link" on t'web for one. and again, to be honest, I never spent the hours on the game that I and my mates used to spend. I have time to play, but it honestly never really got me interested enough to want to keep playing.

players continually going into a strop and demanding a new contract. now in REAL life and I know it's a game, that doesn't happen that often. it puts out the message for buyers that it's the closest thing to really managing a team. well it ain't again, imvho.

lost its appeal and I wonder if the new players are going to buy a new copy every year like the "faithful" did ?? time was I used to buy a new one every time it came out. I know I got older (REALLY ? ) but it just didn't give me the same buzz playing it as the old CM series and early FM did.

maybe I'm just a grumpy old fart...

Its all because the kids of today are crying about a Manager game with Fifa Graphics. I wish EA just brought back FIFA manager for this type of audience.

The game was fine with 2D circles on the pitch and the 3D engine as it is now can be frustrating to watch but at the end of the day its a statistical game and you can just use your imagination at times. I think FM should have been renewed every 2 years anyway, its always buggy as **** upon Novembers release and fixed by February/March as the Premier League season is starting to round off. They need to make their money but they have had quite a few below-par releases over the years when updating a database yearly would probably allow for better gameplay every couple of years.

They have bitten off more then they can chew with this new engine, it sounds like its been a disaster if they are nowhere near ready at this point in time. You can see on their site they are also looking for Senior Game designers with Unity experience..

Im not really against them improving the Game Engine, i guess with younger fan bases now they are looking to please all markets. The game is just supposed to be fun, i really hope they dont go down the route of focusing on graphics as for me this really isnt the point of the game. I wonder with the move to Unity if they will look at a subscription model going forward?

That's a bit embarrassing for them if they're missing a whole season's release.

Agreed re the 3D engine, the circles worked fine and in truth are more than what the originals had, which was just some coloured text that changed faster when there was a chance and flashed when there was a goal.

The excitement was palpable. It was like watching the pages flick over on ceefax to see that page 3/3 was now 3/4 and you knew there'd been a goal in the West Ham game, but ten times better.

I distinctly remember playing 87/98. Colin Little was the star buy back then. Was there an earlier title? Might have even been 94/95. It's hard to remember now.

There was also a good old school football manager type game I played as a kid where players were ranked I think bad, good, superb and outstanding. This was pre Premier League I think. For the life of me I can't remember what it was called now though.

I think there was a version in the early 90s but they might have been made up Databases?
It was quite cool that up until a few years ago, Gianluigi Buffon was on every Championship Manager / Football Manager title since there was official databases.

I don't think he was, the first Championship manager released with real names was in 1993 and was only the English league.
