The Rubber Keyed Wonder

Post by dasnutnock3 »

Documentary about everyone's favourite 8-bit micro is all over London and the West End now. Not 100% what it covers, but Junksh may be interested that there's mention of the Spectrum Next in the blurb.

Ta for the nod, DC. As it happens I'm in the credits as a Kickstarter backer!

It's a good watch, glad to hear it's got a general release.

Can’t believe some of the faces they’ve got in for this documentary. Fascinating viewing so far.

Bothers me that Sir Clive isn’t revered by this country as he ought to be. A genuine pioneer that changed the lives of millions. Without him, no way would the UK have dominated the European IT market the way we’ve been able to.

Hear hear. And so fitting that he died at the age of (ZX) 81.

Loved my Spectrum ZX 48k
the noises the tape player made as the games loaded was beautiful

Chucky Egg, Manic Miner, the Horace games, Down to Earth and the original Football Manager were my favourites

Some sound choices there, Crouchy. Don't recall Down to Earth, though?

Nice, a Bomberman clone. :newthumb:

That said, the last place I would've expected to hear a transphobic monologue today was in a ZX Spectrum review!

FFS, sorry - didn’t bother with sound when I watched the footage yesterday. Schoolboy error…

Definitely recommend getting the 2 disc edition as there's some great stuff on the bonus disc where programmers talk about how they tackled writing certain games. Includes interviews with Steve Turner, Julian Gollop, Clive Townsend and Sandy White among others.
