I always remember that when Wenger took over Arsenal they played three at the back, so for the rest of that season he stuck to that and only changed the next season, evolution not revolution is likely to be the requirement, particularly if they are doing OK.

Hi Graham..

I understand you are the manager of West Ham United.

In case it wasn't clear. Wouldn't swap you for the world.

Actually all I did cos I forgot to comment further.

Continuing to enjoy him, and I do think getting to be the man after the man after Moyes is helpful for him.

Weird isn’t it, results are worse than Lop and Moyes yet I feel the most relaxed and confident we are moving in the right direction for ages.

We are building something here finally - I can feel it!

big game for potter today with a few players back and a week of full training. with arsenal next week away we need the 3 points today. good performances against villa and chelsea where we should have won one of the games but we need 3 points today to ease any pressure that may be building.

I think we have all been reassured by potter and his methods and can see a better style of play but winning is what counts and we need one today.

And that there will the point really, it’s clear that it’s calm, there’s a plan, the players have bought into it, rather than the absolute chaotic @@@@ery that we saw in the first 6 months

Makes a big difference when you can see a plan which you think can actually work with the players we have.

He has also handled an injury ravaged squad really well. The results have (mostly) been seen in that context. Some of the comments after the Palace match and since suggest we still have that core waiting for failure unfortunately so would be nice to get a run of results which get them to retreat back to their caves.

Have never understand how the need to be “right” can outweigh the support of West Ham United but maybe I’ve just not found the right place to spend my internet points!

I think Lop’s points total was better than the performances and there was no sign of any consistent improvement in performances.

With Potter we’ve had some tough fixtures and are playing two full backs at centre back, one of which looks a spent force this season and the other has looked a spent force for the last three seasons.

Palace was rancid but we were unlucky not to pick up a point against Chelsea, probably fortunate to win against Fulham, but mostly we’ve been competitive in the games we’ve played, despite them being against a pretty decent group of sides.

Maybe. But it is something every club hopes for with a new manager.

No honeymoon period, no new manager bounce.

Sigh.
