Tennis 2026

Post by Late of the Boleyn »

Not only a Brit (Jack Draper) in the final at Doha but FOUR Brits in the men's doubles final! Cash and Glasspool v Skupski and Salisbury.

Draper beats Alcaraz Semi of Indian Wells...6-1...0-6...6-4..
Plays Rune in Final Later..

That's a great win for him...Struggles with Fitness over the 5 Setters,Funny..Reckon only 13 games first two sets mighta helped him a bit,
thought he was done for after the 0-6 second set, great comeback.

He's so close to the top table,on day can beat anyone, but somehow gotta sort his Stamina and Hip Problems out..

Crazy match.

I've never seen Alcaraz play a worse set..(the 1st)

I've rarely seen Draper play a weirder set (the 2nd)

Hats off to Jack for the third. He overcomes a lot. He has demons, nerves especially.......but overcoming these moments will (hopefully) one day lead him to a Grand Slam Final.

Top 10 now. :newthumb: ....and the Final today.

Shout out to Olivia Nicholls too for reaching the Indian Wells doubles final with her Slovak partner. Lost to a higher ranked pair but a big leap up the rankings for them.

Stunning win for Londoner Jack. What a week. Beat three Americans in a row then the two-time defending champion before winning the final without facing a break point! Up to no,7 in the world. :muscle:

Great battle between Dreaper and Ruud in the Madrid Open final at the mo. Currently 1-1 1-1 with Jack striving to hold serve. Been pretty dominant in that department all fortnight but Ruud is a master on clay.

All the Girls out of the French....Raducanu outclassed by Swiatek, who'll take some stopping in winning it reckon, played some great stuff..
Boulter Disappointing against Keys, never in it,was expecting better from her, lost count of double faults, and errors..
Rising star Kartal out as well.

Jack Drapers going well, had a struggle gainst Monfils last night tho,but Stamina has improved so much, well capable of going close.
Shame Fearnley and Norris have come up against each other in next round, means a Brit in 4th round tho.

Not Sure Djorkovich has an open left in him...looks like outta the 2 guys who are gonna dominate for a while...Alcaraz and Sinner..
But Jack can beat em both on his day....Def opportunities for him coming up to nick an Open somewhere which could be game chaginging
confidence and attitude wise.

On him at 14/1 to make the final..

Draper two sets to one down in his R16 match vs Bublik. Hopefully our boy can pull his finger out and get this under control.

So, Drapper lost, then. I bought the hype about him, 5th in the world and all that, only for him to.get smashed by a completely.mark.of a player from Kazahkstan.
I should know better, but I still feel cheated

Doubt his game is particularly optimised for clay, but still disappointing.

I love watching Bublik. Another entertainer like Monfils. Made Jack look very one-dimensional. A good run though by the Londoner and into the top 4 now (live rankings).

Yeah, bit disappointing from the Brits in singles, all got pretty much comprehensively beaten....Jack being biggest disappointment..
Norrie was a lttle bit of a let down, thought might have run Djokovich closer...wonder how far he can go in it.
Clays never the best thing for Brits...not really an excuse others can play on it.

Got some Brits left in doubles today.....Skupskis up with Salisbury in mens qtrs later...also in the mixed qtrs later, busy day for him.

Bublik has Sinner next...that could be a good watch.

How does this work? I bought all the Drapper hype. Lock, stock and ****ing barrel. He gets through to.last 16 of a prestige tournament, with some brilliant displays and against some quality players too, only to.get himself smashed against, admittedly a pretty decent opponent, so tell yer what mate, you are now a top 4 player. How the ****, does that work?

Not sure what all the swearing is about; but the rankings are based over the past 12 months. Taylor Fritz, the old #4 - lost in the first round so lost also a lot of points he gained last year. Jack, on the other hand, lost first round last year so picked up a load of points this time. And so Fritz and Jack swapped places.

Blockbuster SF between Aryna and Iga to look forward to. Should have been the final, though.

Neal Skupski into both Mens and Mixed Semi Finals...knocking out 1st seeds in mixed with partner American Desirae Krawczyk, pretty easily.
Great Stuff..well done...same for Joe Salisbury as well.

Not Sure how far Draper can go in reaching the very top..absolute cracking player can beat anyone reckon on his day...has done, but not sure
about consistently ,the long 4/5 setters seem to take their toll on him when he plays a few on the trot in Opens,he's a really big guy,2/3 inches
taller and 5/6 KGs heavier than most guys that have reached the top,he was def getting tired in games, but seems to have mainly
overcome that, but maybe will still kick in occassionally, you just slow down a bit in manoeuvrabilty in sets 4/5 at times.
But still is Def capable of winning an Open when falls right...

Wow Some Mens Final last night..Real Battling 5 Setter,no Idea who was gonna win, back and forth all the time...
Thought Sinner mite edge the fitness thing, with his Skiing background, but Alcaraz just edged him in that...Just...
But both have amazing levels, and both played brilliantly...really enjoyed it...Like the way the Spaniard Finished the Match off Just
as Spain were kicking off in NL Final....Sorry Spain but glad you didn't do the double..,saying that did have Spain to win with both sides
scoring, some old ex Red Manc bloke screwed that for me...

Skupski and Salisbury put up a great fight in Doubles, another Cracking Exciting Match to watch, but just dipped out....Shame.

Hewitt and Reid won wheelchair doubles, but Hewitt lost in final of the singles to Japanese Oda the guy he beat in doubles.

Hannah Klugman lost in Junior Girls final.

Womens at queens starts today BBC 2 if interested, plenty Brits involved..

Wimbledon end of the Month.
