The mid to late 90's Garage & house was the best.
Ice Cream records leading the way alongside Nice N Ripe.

Based on CB's recommendation in the Early 90's Yoof thread, but one album earlier. Really good.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now
I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I hadn't heard this album before as it's so far up my street it's buying milk at the corner shop wearing my slippers and dressing gown. Sounds like a kind of alchemic distillation of New York post punk dance, from MSG to LCD Soundsystem via a side of Tom Tom Club. Or something.

Have you listened to !!! (search ChkChkChk for better online results)? They share several members with Out Hud and once did a joint EP, so have a similar style.

I gave them a go back then, but tbh I took against their silly name and convinced myself that I shouldn't like them.southbrishammer wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 10:22 pm Have you listened to !!! There were a bunch of excellent post punk funk bands in that early 200s New York scene, weren't there? I think that at the time I was a little bit sniffy about it. "Liquid Liquid wannabes". I think I should try again, listen without prejudice.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now
Was once upon a time most easily listened to mix. Many moons ago, went through a spell of doing pretty long runs after work and this would usually see me through. Looking back with a more positive view than the reality which was running with severe shin splints until even walking was a challenge. Fantastic mix though, as expected from Sir Richie Hawtin.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now
Was listening to Jamzsupernova on R6 earlier and she announced a mix of Japanese dance music … which naturally piqued my interest. This chap ‘Stones Taro’ took me right back to The Warehouse in Leeds in the mid-late 80s. ‘Got Funk’ is what is known in dance circles as ‘a banger’!!
