Re: Formula1
Watching DTS for the first time in a few years. My God it's bad. It's like TOWIE for F1.
Frankly, it's one of the most wooden, poorly edited and badly acted documentaries I've ever seen.

Re: Formula1
I’ve been told episode 7 is actually good (they change tact) but yes I’ve not watched it since quitting on season 2. I’m ok it’s not for me, it’s for people that follow drivers on TikTok and maybe watch half a dozen racing laps a year. That’s ok.westham, eggyandchips wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 10:07 pm Watching DTS for the first time in a few years. My God it's bad. It's like TOWIE for F1.

Re: Formula1
Yeah I think I watched up to season 3 and stopped.
It's formula 1 for people that either don't really like formula 1 or don't have the attention span to watch F1 properly, and just want to see a bit of semi-scripted, F1 adjacent "drama".
The highlights as I remember them from all those episodes, was Guenther Steiner saying "f***" a lot.

Re: Formula1
I also watched the Six Nations Full Contact series, follows the same format; staged conversations, judiciously edited conversations and comments by key people for dramatic effect, driving to venue / training with fake car radio saying something controversial.
It's all garbage.

Re: Formula1
Cracking final laps from the McLaren boys. Max upto third in a supposedly crap car. George is a good place as well.
Albon and Yuki both ahead of both Ferraris wonderful to see Williams up there on merit.
Be interesting to see who’s setup for the expected rain and who is betting on the fact we won’t race anymore in anything more than a drizzle.
I hope Ferrari have gone for a wetter setup which they suffered for today (that would be on script for Lewis , who often favours the race setup).
Good qualifying and likely chaotic race tomorrow though over taking is going to be tough. The smaller F3s struggled even with DRS.

Re: Formula1
Yup, great first season quali. Looks promising for an exciting season.
Really hope you are right about Ferrari setup.
Overall Lewis 2 tenths off Charles was positive, but not the laptime for Ferrari.
Great stuff from Yuki, against sticking it up to the heads of Red Bull.

Re: Formula1
Notice they are bottom of the speed traps.. smells of more down force or something seriously wrong… it’s Ferrari after all.

Re: Formula1
The two McLarens on top, and both Williams in the top ten.
Hopefully this should be a good season.

Re: Formula1
Great drive by Lando, learned from previous errors.
I think we saw today how tricky F1 cars are in the wet. Those guys who made it to the end are so skilled.
Ferrari being Ferrari again.

Re: Formula1
Lewis voicing his displeasure:
Lewis - what position am I now?
Engineer - p9
Lewis - (5 seconds of bleep)
I think that dynamic will take a while to gel, but it's pretty clear that Ferrari should be listening more and ordering less.

Re: Formula1
Great win for Lando and Mclaren.
Had big tyre decisions to make during the race and got everyone of them spot-on. Seems they've learnt from last season.
Only peeve is the commentators constantly banging on about LH having to adjust to driving a different car like it's never happened before. He was so rude to his race engineer at times but not a mention of that.

I didn’t think he was rude at all. Didn’t raise his voice, used please frequently and spoke calmly.westham, eggyandchips wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 5:11 pm He was so rude to his race engineer at times but not a mention of that.
Compare to some of the outbursts by pretty much every driver (including Lewis) over the last few years he was monklike calm today.

Passive Aggressive I think it's called these days.
He did pick up a valuable point for Ferrari so fair play.

Re: Formula1
It made me chuckle on commentary when Hamilton was leading the race and they got excited like he was going to hold out for 10 odd laps on hard slick tyres in the rain.
Still, a great opening race. McLaren looking like the team to beat.
Shout out to Albon getting to 4th in the Williams. I really hope they have a good season.

Re: Formula1
Strange one this, of course we want legal cars (which all cars were at the end of last season and this weekend - all were tested apparently), but it was previously stated it would be race nine the tighter rules would come in, now all of a sudden it is race 3 (with race 2 being some odd in-between value) They move at a snails pace sometimes and jump on things rapidly for others (cough Red Bull moaning) . Thoughts are this might limit McLaren but often these changes hit different cars than the ones suspected (often the already struggling Ferrari)
In a budget cap era you can't really say one thing and then go and order something else, it is not as if the teams can pull a race 9 planned wing out of their arses several months earlier. Be interesting to see if there is any push back from this.

https://www.racefans.net/2025/03/17/fia ... s-weekend/"The sport’s governing body previously announced it would impose a new test from the Spanish Grand Prix, round nine of the championship, which will be held in June. However after analysing data gathered at last weekend’s round in Melbourne, it has decided to impose another new test with immediate effect."

Re: Formula1
When Red Bull are on top (and cheating) the changes are glacial slow.
When Red Bull are struggling, the changes seem to come quickly.
It must be a co-incidence.
Agreed re the changes not always hitting the intended target. Ferrari need no help sabotaging themselves though.
