Re: Israel / Iran
Not much else out there than that. IDF saying they've been dead for over a year, were killed "with bare hands" and they've shared the evidence "with partners around the world". Don't see that any other organisation have commented on it yet though.Monkeybubbles wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 1:43 pm Do you have a source for that please? Re: Israel / Iran
The reality here - and whether people want to accept it or not - is a large number of the prisoners being released by Israel will likely go straight into swelling the ranks of the Palestinian armed forces, and the cycle of trading rocket attacks and air strikes will continue.
The whole region is at it's lowest ebb for decades.

Re: Israel / Iran
So America now talking directly to Hamas despite it's confirmed policy of not negotiating with terrorists?
Whilst jaw jaw is better than war war, another sign of the duplicity of Trump and his cronies?
From the BBC - "Wednesday began with news that the US is directly negotiating with Hamas leaders for the release of American hostages still in Gaza. Contacting a group designated a foreign terrorist organisation by the US since 1997 represents a dramatic shift away from decades of US policy".

Report (Grauniad - sorry can't link) that Trump has 'written' to Ali Khamenei about reopening negotiations on uranium enrichment. This is apparently tempered by the remark (something like) '...if the US gets involved militarily it'll be very bad for them' (Iran)
FWIW PressTV reports the Iranian mission to the UN says this letter has not been received.

'' Iran’s supreme leader rails against Trump’s ‘bullying’ military threat
Ayatollah Khamenei says US demand to reopen talks on Iran’s nuclear programme is aimed at domination . ''
Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has criticised what he described as bullying tactics a day after Donald Trump threatened military action against Iran.
“Some bully governments – I really don’t know of any more appropriate term for some foreign figures and leaders than the word bullying – insist on negotiations,” Khamenei told officials after Trump threatened military action if Iran refused to engage in talks over its nuclear programme.
“Their negotiations are not aimed at solving problems, they aim at domination,” Khamenei said on Saturday. ''
Last month, Khamenei reiterated his opposition to negotiations with the US, calling this “unwise” just days after Trump called for a new nuclear deal.
Khamenei accused Washington of having “ruined, violated, and torn up” the 2015 agreement.
In 2019, more than a year after Trump’s withdrawal from the JCPOA, Japan’s then premier, Shinzo Abe, visited Iran in an attempt to mediate between Tehran and Washington.
But Khamenei firmly rejected the possibility of talks with the US, saying he did not “consider Trump as a person worthy of exchanging messages with”.

Re: Israel / Iran
Trump reminds me of the "boring prophet" from Life Of Brian. Speaks a lot of words, says very little:snooperpooper wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 5:27 pm Trump saying, "we're going to see some things happen on Iran very, very soon"

Over 400 confirmed deaths now from overnight strikes in Gaza. I’m sure the likely suspects will pop up and say that 99% were Hamas militants, they were precision strikes and they should have freed all hostages by now (the hostages families have condemned these strikes).
Utter, indiscriminate brutality. Apparently Netanyahu rang Trump last night to seek his blessing prior to the planned strikes. Our leaders are supposed to represent the best of us, these are truly horrid times we’re living through. A break from the news may be in order personally.

The USA (or UK) will NEVER sanction or even threaten Israel. We're firmly on their side.

Another Israeli airstrike on Gaza over night. Just only 300 Palestinians killed this time. Mostly, young children
