Sad news, a big personality in the sport, and one who wasn’t afraid of a challenge

Rest in peace

Very sad news about Eddie Jordan

Never afraid to speak his mind, he was a real force of nature and F1 is a sadder place without him

RIP EJ

Damn, Eddie Jordan gone.

I still have fond memories of watching his black and yellow Jordan car with Benson & Hedges on the side in the 90's.

I always liked him as a pundit too.

The Jordan 191, his first F1 car has a good claim to be the most beautiful F1 car of all time (I know Gary Anderson designed it but still). What he achieved in 91' remains one of the all-time great performances for a new team with such meagre resources.

One of F1s great characters. RIP Eddie

The IT company I joined in 2000 won the contract to host Jordan F1's web operations around 2002. Was a big deal for us, getting a high profile client like that, and it helped stabilize us when things were looking a bit wobbly for the long-term health of the business.

They sent someone down from their marketing team to speak to us, about Jordan, their goals, their company ethos, and how they wanted to engage with us. Lad about our age (mid-20s) spoke with unrestrained joy about everything to do with the business - was clear that he loved being part of the team, and that Eddie had created a relaxed and affable working environment. I'd never seen such enthusiasm from an employee anywhere.

As we all filed out, everyone kinda looked round at each other. We all had the same facial expression, bewilderment. I was first to ask "what must that feel like?" and we all spent the rest of the day trying to comprehend how it must feel to wake up every day and just be desperate to get to work as quickly as possible. Stayed with me for over 20 years, and something I've yet to experience. All I ever expected was to "not mind" going in. Never occurred to me that anyone might be actually happy to go to work.

Eddie will be much missed, especially by those that worked for him.

Not bad for a washed up old fella. Shame it’s just the sprint (still won’t get up at 3am for it)

Spicy front row with Max dragging that ‘terrible car’ (we don’t believe you Christian) round for second.

Sad to see Eddie pass but felt he had a bit of a racist undertone to his comments imho.

Which leads me to ham being on pole which is a shock to everyone.

I will not be up at 3am but feel max will be steaming up his inside in the first corner whether he likes it or not.

Lewis...from lights out to chequered flag...drove superbly.

Good to see Piastri get past Max for a second place finish, with Max coming home third.

No real dramas.

Another Lewis masterclass, bodes well, unfortunately Ferrari strategy comes into play in a GP.

Sprint Race a Lewis tyre management master class. Sucked Max in , pushed through the graining and pulled away after Piastri used all his tyres to over take Max.

Qualifying. Hotter temperatures.

Lewis out qualifies Charlie (again) wasn’t supposed to happen.

Wow - George where did he pull that out from? Great lap from him.

Lando chokes again

Well done young Oscar - you Aussies can have that one.

Max just being Max.

Tomorrow it’s tyres. I’m hopeful Lewis can whisper to a podium.

Be interesting race. The top two are not known for their tyre management skills and it definitely a tyre management race. Will they get swallowed up by the superior management skills of those behind (Max and Lewis especially) or have they learned from the last few years.

As a Hamilton fan I was worried about the Ferrari move. Had he lost his raw pace, was he going to struggle against super fast LeClerc, would all his detractors get more ammo to say he needs the best car?

Only a sprint race, but what a statement. Perfect start, perfect management and a lot of silence from his critics. Get in Lewis!

Great mixed up grid for the main race, should be exciting.

McLaren 1-2 with Oscar taking the win. Great drive from both, especially Llando given his brake issues. Solid accumulation of points is what will win Llando the drivers championship.

And on the subject of solid accumulation of points...Russell again getting a podium.

Ferrari not quite on the pace, but LeClerc drove well with a broken front wing.

Not the most exciting or spectacular GP of all time though.

The hard tyres being unexpectedly seemingly invincible largely spoiled it.

Pretty boring race, but another great 1-2 from McClaren.

Oscar was imperious.

Yeah, that race might have been better with medium/soft sets in play

One thing that baffles me is that Lewis looked great in the Sprint, and then they fiddled with setup before quali, and made it worse.

You'd think he'd get out the car and say don't touch a thing.....
