Re: What is a woman?
I presume "factuality" will be OK.Another judge ruled that Ms Peggie was allowed to refer to Dr Upton as a man throughout the tribunal, as long as it was not done "offensively" or "gratuitously".
Dr Upton's legal team said that the medic was deeply hurt by being misgendered.
But Judge Sandy Kemp ruled in Ms Peggie's favour, while acknowledging it might be "painful and distressing" for Dr Upton - whose legal team will be able to refer to their client as female.
You're supposed to be a doctor, deal with it.
So much for them telling the truth.
This sort of ***** is what helped to lumber the USA with Trump.....

Re: What is a woman?
This is absolutely correct, and honestly I wonder how much of it has been deliberately stoked in order to make the general public suitably outraged so as to produce a reactionary backlash.
See also BLM and the whole #metoo all men are bad narrative.

Fair play to the Standard, they've really nailed the perfect headline.delbert wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 6:55 pm More lunacy:

Team A are annoyed at the mis-gendering
Team B are annoyed because someone dared to be trans.
Team A & B are caught up in a culture war and neither of them (although impacted) can be bothered to ask questions about the broadening and increasing wealth disparity.
Seriously, what % of people in the world are trans? Why do they take up so much space in our life & politics?
This article is basically "in a courtroom, someone acted like a bit of a twat" no matter which side you are. Something which I'm sure happens 75% of the time.
Edit: Hospital not court room.

Re: What is a woman?
Otoh, the hospital has rules and the woman broke them because of her religious beliefs. Does her believing in all that stiff trump the trans person's belief about their genderal identity?
On the other other hand, the trans person is a nonce and so forfeits the usual understanding and respect.

Re: What is a woman?
Well, Sikhs are exempt from wearing a crash helmet while riding a motor bike. They're also allowed to carry a bladed article in public. All because of their religous beliefs. If religion trumps the law of the land then surely it trumps diktats from a board of management?Monkeybubbles wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 8:17 pm Otoh, the hospital has rules and the woman broke them because of her religious beliefs. Re: What is a woman?
It seems the only religion nobody gives a feck about is Christianity.
Go figure..
(I say this as an Atheist, I've made my views quite clear earlier in the thread.)

Ooh, traditional religion vs the pronoun religion.

Re: What is a woman?
Putting aside the hospital rules, the debatable part here isn't so much their own beliefs but more how other people are supposed to go along with them. No one is being forced to believe in God just because of the nurse's religious beliefs, yet the nurse is being forced to believe a 6 foot bloke in a frock is a woman just because the nonce says he is.Monkeybubbles wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 8:17 pm Otoh, the hospital has rules and the woman broke them because of her religious beliefs. No one should have to go along with someone else's fantasy.......

Re: What is a woman?
But the woman is asking us to go along with her fantasy. "I should be allowed to break the hospital's rules because of my irrational beliefs".delbert wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 9:25 pm Putting aside the hospital rules, the debatable part here isn't so much their own beliefs but more how other people are supposed to go along with them. Re: What is a woman?
Well no, because the law of the land says that Sikhs don't have to wear a lid. It was illegal before, but now it's not, and Sikhs aren't breaking any rules by doing so.Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 8:24 pm Well, Sikhs are exempt from wearing a crash helmet while riding a motor bike. Unless the hospital change their rules in order to exempt God botherers from adhering to their protocol regarding trans people it's not a comparable situation.

If the paedophile committed (another) crime and left DNA at the scene, based on that DNA would the police be looking for a male or a female?

Re: What is a woman?
Whilst in the hospital they should have cut his dick off, that way the nonce would have been one step closer to being a woman.
