Another judge ruled that Ms Peggie was allowed to refer to Dr Upton as a man throughout the tribunal, as long as it was not done "offensively" or "gratuitously".

Otoh, the hospital has rules and the woman broke them because of her religious beliefs. Does her believing in all that stiff trump the trans person's belief about their genderal identity?

Well, Sikhs are exempt from wearing a crash helmet while riding a motor bike. They're also allowed to carry a bladed article in public. All because of their religous beliefs. If religion trumps the law of the land then surely it trumps diktats from a board of management?

Putting aside the hospital rules, the debatable part here isn't so much their own beliefs but more how other people are supposed to go along with them. No one is being forced to believe in God just because of the nurse's religious beliefs, yet the nurse is being forced to believe a 6 foot bloke in a frock is a woman just because the nonce says he is.
No one should have to go along with someone else's fantasy.......

Well no, because the law of the land says that Sikhs don't have to wear a lid. It was illegal before, but now it's not, and Sikhs aren't breaking any rules by doing so.

Unless the hospital change their rules in order to exempt God botherers from adhering to their protocol regarding trans people it's not a comparable situation.
