Once the election's over...realistically though he was never going to stop Putin, even if he did say "Way!" :(

24 hours my arse.
Are any of the media going to call him out on this? Its time he really started facing tough questions on the blatant lies he told.

-to keep ALL the land it currently occupies
-to have a concrete agreement on Ukraine being prohibited to apply for NATO membership
-all current sanctions lifted

Nor would they accept any kind of peacekeeping troops in Ukraine.
So, looks like the US of A have threatened to walk away from peace negotiations unless Ukraine submits to ALL of Russia’s above demands… is this in addition to Ukraine being extorted by Trump for its minerals? Wild.

It would almost be unbelievable, if it wasn’t so believable. Like Putin, Trump has woefully underestimated the indefatigable Ukrainian spirit and the strong sense of responsibility amongst Western actors. His lazy plan was to force the weaker side into submission. Russia enjoy the spoils of war, Europe would be forced to act alone in protecting Ukrainian interests after all is said and done and the US would walk away with mineral access and various nuclear facilities. Trump’s deal was a bad deal, it was doomed to fail, and once again he is looking totally unsuitable to hold the office.

I honestly think this (hopefully hypothetical) question can now genuinely be pondered: if Europe and Russia were at war and the US HAD to pick a side to support, would it be us or the Russians?

Sadly I suspect the latter, certainly while Agent Donaldov is in the job.

They won't pick a side. They would stay neutral. The worst bit.

His plan was 100% to bully Ukraine into accepting all of Russias gains and demands, whilst the USA stole half of Ukraine's mineral wealth and Trump held himself up as the great peacemaker, in full expectation that he'd get a Nobel prize for his opportunism.

Given the USA's track record, they'd most likely offer to sell weapons to Europe, and also loan the money to buy said weapons as well as demanding access to key minerals.

I suspect that’s right - that’s why I put the “had” bit of my post in capitals. Even so, it’s telling that no one has said he’d side with Europe. I hope Delbs is right but the US military whilst knowing whose side they should be on is nothing if not loyal. He may yet test that loyalty like it’s never been tested before.

We need to de-couple from the yanks’ administration - hope they return to sanity at some point - but be aware that things can flip just like that so we can’t rely on them again.

Honestly if it absolutely came down to it, they would support Europe. Too much history and too many voters wouldn’t be happy if he picked Russia

It’s remarkable how he conjured up this plan and actually thought it would work. For all of America’s historic mistakes, appeasement of the Russians over Ukraine would be up there as one of the worst. It would massively weaken Western security, and it would embolden Russia in the short term to engage in similar enterprises in the region. All the while, Trump would “let them at it” for the price of access to the 3rd party assets. The US has a history of considering itself police of the world, but if it would be worse if they were to “lay down their arms” to let dictators and demagogues run amok, while financially profiting on the sidelines.

Russian General killed in Moscow car bomb

Hmmm.... no-one is safe, it would seem. Being able to do this to a top general in the Russian capital is a pretty clear message.

It’s all setup isn’t it, make it an impossible deal for the Ukrainians to accept, Trump can say he tried his best and will walk away blaming the Ukrainians and his mate can carry on stealing land

Check mate I think it’s called
