Basically,he is incompetent because of the net spend on transfers/recruitment.We are in the top 6 spenders in past 5 years and what have we got,the oldest squad in the PL,that sits 4th from bottom? If that's not incompetence, than I don't know what is?Monkeybubbles wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 10:54 am Sullivan is venal, unprincipled and morally void. Depends what your objective is. If you aim to have a slick and successful team constantly challenging for honours, then he is indeed incompetent.
If however you run the club as a giant playstation to just satisfy your whims and maaassive ego, then "success" is something else, and by your own measure you may be competent, even succeeding.

Re: Late David Gold, Sullivan and Brady
I agree that we spunk to much transfer money on players who are either over valued or just don't work.
It could also be argued that regardless of that fact we have punched our weight, we are one of only seven clubs to have won a major trophy in the last 5 seasons, its the 5 you would imagine City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, plus Leicester, us and now in 2025 Newcastle.
Our current recruitment has been below what we would need to remain as one of the select few above in the next five seasons. I'd ask how we achieved what we did? And then how we can return to the system that saw us flip the notion that January is a poor recruitment month yet we signed Jarrod and Tomas at value prices.

Fair point. He's also surrounded by people that blow smoke up his arse about how great he is.Albie Beck wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 10:22 am Depends what your objective is. If you aim to have a slick and successful team constantly challenging for honours, then he is indeed incompetent.

In his bubble, fortune is never hiding.
Conversely, all the hopes & dreams we had 3 years ago have faded & died.

Interested to learn who of those involved with the potential purchase of WHUFC back in 2010 was as "equally dodgy" as our current chair, and why.
A shame to read comments of this nature.
The fanbase would be richer and stronger for everyone pulling together, not just out for themselves.

We all remember when they were fleecing the club , charging it 7% interest on their loans. When challenged on this , Gold's reply was, " I could get 10 anywhere else". That, in itself, told us everything about him and his sidekick

Loaning a company, you have the majority of the shares in, money and charging 7% interest ! If he ran the club like he runs his own little empire we'd be in the champions league every season. He's basically rung us out like an old sponge since day 1.

With regards the loans, the PSR rules are NOW such that owners have to reflect a commercially viable rate so as not to be giving a club an unfair advantage.
This I'd one of the rules Man City insisted upon to point out they weren't the only ones giving their club a helping hand.

With Potter and Potts at the club next season we’ll probably end up being purchased by the Glazers.DublinDave wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 10:57 am And I'll wager the reason Kretinski hasn't moved either.

Wasn't Tony Fernades supposed to have been involved in a bid around that time, but ultimately took over QPR, which turned out a bit of a shambles?Up the Junction wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 12:47 pm Interested to learn who of those involved with the potential purchase of WHUFC back in 2010 was as "equally dodgy" as our current chair, and why?
Obviously no idea if he was equally as dodgy, he just seems to be the other one I remember. Also Tabor?

The Tabor takeover bid was years earlier.Mr McGauley wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 11:45 am Wasn't Tony Fernades supposed to have been involved in a bid around that time, but ultimately took over QPR, which turned out a bit of a shambles?

Tabor gave up on us after it failed.
There was another bloke who ended up with an interest in Leeds, can't remember his name but rumour had it he wanted to pay in cash.

Intermarket would have got the club in 2010 . But in typical west ham fashion the man fronting the bid Jim bone died during the bidding process. And we ended up with the 3 parasites instead. Cursed I tell ya CURSED .
