Metal Hammer has reminded me of Mental Hamster, who unless I'm going mad was/Is a poster on here. From NI iirc.

If you look back at some of these early match threads, very few of those posters are still with us.

Shabu, David's Cross and El Brooko pop out there after looking quickly.
Re: Posters you remember / miss
Similar topic. For some unknown reason when I woke up yesterday all I could think of was the names of school mates (50+ years ago) and work mates going as far back as the sixties. Wondering who was dead and who was still alive. Amazed I could remember so many names as haven't thought of most of them for donkey's years. Some nice memories of many but plenty of dickheads too

Re: Posters you remember / miss
Think it says a lot about the modern world......that people even think they need a break from KUMB sometimes.
The best of forums really....the best moderated and yet, a break is needed sometimes...
Even saw Pinky mention it a while back. A tremendously level headed human being, taking time out.
I have no twitter now....no Facebook..no instagram....nothing. Apart from watching some chosen YouTube channels which benefit me I think.
I appreciate the modern world offers some fantastic advancements and opportunities....My overall feeling is that (this weird social media interactivity) and "fake" and ( post truth world) is damaging beyond anything I've ever seen in 60 years.
And I'm actually glad I'm moving towards the latter years of my life......as I don't really like the world we all live in now.
Just me....

Re: Posters you remember / miss
I just found nearly every post I was typing (then subsequently deleting) was an argument, and it just became a chore.
The only breaks I've had from KUMB in 15 years have been enforced ones, this was the first time I just needed a break, didn't even read the forum.
There's so many good people on here, but it seems to have been 'overrun' in recent years with a certain type of poster, one that isn't interested in light hearted debate, or to have just have a laugh, a real lack of patience with all things West Ham, it's just all too serious and bitchy at times.. maybe that says more about me, but the absence of many a long term poster would suggest I might not be alone in that thinking.
Anyway, here for a good time, not a long time.

It's definitely not just you dc.davids cross wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 10:53 am Think it says a lot about the modern world......that people even think they need a break from KUMB sometimes.
Never had/wanted/been bothered with any social media platforms (I don't class KUMB as social media). Do I have FOMO? Nope. Am I bothered I sometimes get labeled as a dinosaur for not being on any of those platforms? Nope.
I've got to 63 without the need and I doubt very much I'll start now.

Re: Posters you remember / miss
I'm 52 and am broadly with you both. I still have FB (just but it's starting to wear thin) and IG purely for little updates, photos etc. No more, no less. Twitter was the depths of cesspit though so got rid of that and glad I did. Also don't class KUMB as social media...Eggs'n'nuts wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 11:26 am It's definitely not just you dc.

If there was a big red OFF switch for social media , I would 100% hit it and then burn it. Technology is and can be amazing , but as a species we can't be trusted with it in many circumstances....IMO

The City forum I used when Mark Hughes was our manager become poisonous. Many wouldn’t accept him because of his playing history at Old Trafford.
I left because of it.
I left because of it.

I noticed Masters Golf comp was organised by Mumbles this year (and a great job he did too) but got me thinking where is Soul Circus?

I'm still around mate, only post occasionally these days. Mumbles kindly offered to take over the golf comp last year as I didn't have the time to devote to it.westham, eggyandchips wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 7:12 am I noticed Masters Golf comp was organised by Mumbles this year (and a great job he did too) but got me thinking where is Soul Circus?

Spoke to Tomos last week, he is fine and sends everyone his best.
He's just having a break and resting his knees.
