Thanks to Korea...Akron/Family... what an interesting band! Bein old git I think of 'post' rock and 'post' punk and 'post' folk (post office?) but you have to admit it's just music.

Tbh, I even cringe just a little when bands I generally love start singing away about war battles or naval reenactments or ancient historical skirmishes and such (Iron Maiden and Motörhead do this a LOT; Slayer aren't averse to some war imagery either; Adam Ant of course loved to hoist The Jolly Roger or play The Dandy Highwayman or whatnot; And Bolt Thrower's entire identity was largely built upon Warhammer gaming which led to very piratey/war skirmishey lyrical content, albeit of a more fantastical kind).

It's a thin line between rocking out, singing about scenes of pillage and plunder, and it quickly becoming a highly amusing but unintentional comedy act.

I have wondered what happens during the photoshoots of these sorts of bands. I can't imagine they take themselves too seriously, and they burst into laughter once the shot is taken. Or maybe it's not an act? Either way, long may these niche genres continue, the world and the high seas are a richer place with them.
