KCD2, only a few hours in.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first one, enough so that it's in my all time top 3.

This hasn't been a disappointment so far. Definitely a step up on a few mechanics (I enjoyed the combat in KCD1, but this '+slightly simplified version is better).

The open world is glorious but the UI in the menus is a bit wonky. I can see how people who didn't play the first game can be overwhelmed.

I'm enjoying the cutscenes, and the story so far (not even got to the wedding yet) is solid and engaging enough.

The game runs so smoothly on Geforce Now (RTX 4080). getting around 120fps with all settings on ultra/experimental.

I didn't realise how much I missed Hans.

Was my biggest frustration (and that of many others too, it seems) from KCD.

Started Baldur’s Gate III today. Only an hour in (I escaped the squid ship) before having to join planet earth and socialize with my family.
I swear 20 minutes of that hour was creating my character and figuring out my powers, stats, personality etc.
My brain is just trying very hard to take this all in.

Worth noting I’ve never played a Baldur’s Gate game before nor am I familiar with this type of RPG.
I’m playing this purely because I’m genuinely fascinated but the talk and a game with a 96 metacritic score is always worth a look.

I bought an Xbox 360 when my youngest was born, so I could pass the time while being a stay-at-home dad. I bought loads of games for it as the stores were clearing out for the newer generation. Unfortunately I spent most of my time playing PES and very few of the others.
Recently I dug it out the cupboard for the first time in years and decided to try a few of the other games.
I'm currently playing through Dishonored - it's alright, lots of options to vary gameplay a bit but it's not particualarly taxing.
I tend to get too obsessed with trying to complete everything though - you know, checking every room etc which is one of the things I've always disliked about games, (the tedium of checking every room and walking up to every object and moving the cursor over every item) and is probably a big factor in why I just played the footy game.

I started it as well. I can’t beat the first set of mobs after the beach. I’m rubbish. Not really sure what I’m doing. The ship and intro was cool though.

Did you rescue Shadowheart from the ship and have her in your party? Between the two of you it’s very much doable. It took me a second attempt to beat them but having her at least gives you some form of ranged attack to deal with those brain creatures.
I’m plodding along but the combat and scope is crazy rich and I’m still learning even now. I have most key party members at this stage but I am trying to figure out how to deal with the Goblins and their leaders…

Downloaded this (love my Diablo) and currently level 22, seems decent. Gone for a Warlock and melting stuff right now. Might even buy this one.

Whats the end game like that’s so often the issues with arpg’s

Never really got there tbvh. The highest I got it level 96 and I couldn't beat a final boss that stopped me getting to higher, level 100 plus content. The problem is I home brew my build and can't be bothered respecing it all again and playing a different way. I've got this patch down to two maybe 3 key presses and one mouse click.

I've gone for void knight ( an offshoot of paladin) and as long as I can keep moving and hitting stuff I'm fine. if creatures move around a lot and leave aoe all over the shop, I'm toast. Level 32 now, just beat the dreadnaught and am now on the beach.

Just downloaded Atomfall (gratis with GamePass). That's next on the agenda.

After that, probs the remastered version of Oblivion which has also just dropped on GamePass.

Annoyingly I just finished a playthrough of OG Oblivion which I loved, but probably need a bit of a break before taking on the remaster.

However I am very excited for the new game coming out on Gamepass, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 which has incredible reviews and looks like a fantastic turn based JRPG (in style, its French made) with modern graphics

Jungle Strike - I remember enjoying this a lot when I was younger and I'm enjoying it again. Well I was enjoying it until a cutscene mentions a "recently unified Germany" making me realise how old I and the game really are :nonpl:

I only have the Master System II (original), Super Nintendo (orignial, but no games or controls) and a SNES mini. Really regret not getting the Genesis/Mega Drive mini too. Problem is that I only have 2-3 games for my Sega MSII :cried:

Haven't bothered with emulation in 20+ years when we used to play C64 games etc on PC, maybe I should look into it again

In between streaks of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Helldivers 2, I’ve started playing a truly unique puzzler that launched a week or so ago and is available on PS Plus (probably Game Pass too) called Blue Prince.

It’s received a ton a rave reviews as one of the greatest puzzle games ever made and it is incredibly addictive, but also tricky and occasionally unforgiving.
Played from a FPS view, the aim is to unlock all 46 rooms in a mansion you will inherit from your wealthy and now dead great uncle.
You have limitations in regard to your movement and have a room “draft” system that determines the next selection of rooms.
A poor choice (or bad luck) can kill your attempt and you have to reset and start again.
And on top of that, the room draft is completely random.
I’ve opened about 30 rooms before I ran out of “steps” but the puzzles and the ambience is next level.

Absolutely worth your time. The wife and I are very much digging it.

Star Wars Jedi survivor.

A mix of boredom, scratching your head where to go and some infuriating clunky platforming.

It's a lot tougher prospect than Fallen Order. I do feel it's overly finicky and the side missions do not flow like they should.
