Re: West Ham Utd v Tottenham: match thread
Appreciate I'm not saying anything not already said, but it was my first live game of the season, and i scrambled for the exit when the second went in. Don't really care if some people think that makes me a plastic fan, we got soaked queuing to get in and i just wanted to get home, i knew there was no way we were going to turn it round.
I genuinely think we're in relegation trouble. So much ire needs to be correctly directed at Sullivan, but ~Potter has done NOTHING in his time here. He had a free hit last season and still failed. We had 2 sub standard keepers no our bench along with 2 aging injury prone forwards..and started AGAIN with Soueck and Ward-Prowse. Our squad is horrendous.

Snug pub but definitely not the smallest.

Re: West Ham Utd v Tottenham: match thread
Wasn't a fan of the way we set up and felt Wilson should have started after such a great cameo away at Forest.
That said, we actually played well for the first half an hour and had Paqueta rolled 'that one' in the bottom corner it would have been one of the best team goals we have seen for many years.
But then it all changed. We sat deeper and deeper as the half went on, we had no outlet and we gifted them countless corners, looked like a bag of nerves defending each one.
It was blindingly obvious to all what was coming in the second half unless changes were made (we were lucky not to be 1-0 by that point anyway) and from the moment they scored it was gutless. Not one of our team stood up to be counted.
Potter has to take some stick for not reacting or recognising that we needed an outlet (Wilson) after the sending off and the whole team have to look at themselves for the complete lack of marking and defending.
It was as bad as I have seen us. We lack leadership and character so we just rolled over when it got a bit tough.

I remember when the old Rokeby School was new - in fact when it was built. They ripped out everything beyond the back garden fences in Bridge Road. Most of Chapel Street and the whole of the already long flattened Langthorne Street disappeared,Patsy Belgium wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 7:58 am Yep opposite the old Rokeby school in Pitchford st

Not long after that, we were out front in Bridge Road, and my Nan said "look - there's West Ham, as the open top bus went past along the High Street. No prizes for guessing what year that was.
Sorry to continue off topic. I guess it's a way of taking one's mind off this latest disastrous defeat.

Did we defend corners well until the first goal? I felt like we were better, but then they did something different and we had no brains.
It’s probably what is going to define our season, if not just the manager’s reign.

We didn't concede from them, but it was very seat of the pants defending on all of them
There was no sense we had anything under control, as the disallowed goal showed
It was luck rather than judgement we hadn't conceded from one before we did

There was another further up towards the old shopping centre that was full of West Ham fans and, as a youngster, I was constantly refused service. Princess of Wales maybe.

I feel like Zonal only works if your defenders are clever enough to adapt when the opposition do.
Tottenham moved all their players to the back post and we just watched it happen.
Our defenders all need a babysitter, it's the blind leading the blind back there. A far cry from Zouma, Ogbonna and Dawson.

The only saving grace in this latest debacle is Judus didn’t crack one home.

We should have set fire to that stupid little stool of his, rather than graciously returning it.

We took Paqueta out of midfield and looked better.
We put him up front and looked worse.

My surprise is that it was disallowed in OUR favour!Plashet Grove Pete wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 3:13 pm I've watched it about a dozen times and still can't believe it was chalked off.
And I can't believe I've just written "chalked off" in a post either.
Re: West Ham Utd v Tottenham: match thread
Says something about our mentality when the disallowed goal seemed to dent our confidence anyway, in the same way a VAR going against us against Chelsea did.

Re: West Ham Utd v Tottenham: match thread
Absolutely.
It was almost a case of they knew their defensive "tactics" weren't working and it was only a matter of time before they scored from a similar situation. I'm surprised we held out until the second half.
