How big is John McGinn's backside? Whenever he shielded the ball from Diouf and others, his backside seemed to double in size before he then fell over as if he had been run over by a John Deere tractor.

But I cannot agree that villa is a well run club, it broke a heap of financial rules and is currently under UEFA sanctions to get where they are. The wage bill off the chart in a turnover versus wage costs and they owe their owner £400m or there abouts so they are insolvent should he ever want his dough back.
Aston Villa are a very well run club - whilst the wage bill vs income ratio is indeed very high, we had to speculate to accumulate in a sense for a while to try and reach the upper echelons of the league. This has been managed strategically by the owners and yes, we transgressed ths UEFA SCR regulations but UEFA are happy with the mitigations we now have in place plus the plan to reduce squad costs - hence the relatively small fine we received from UEFA due to the adherence to the agreed improvement plan. As for our owners, they have injected around £700m (including the original purchase price) since 2018, pretty much all of which, has been converted to equity as share capital, hence no debt. In Villa's last accounts our actual debt was shown as £33.6m, of which 13m is a shareholder loan and and a 20m bank loan facility. We also have one of the lowest transfer net spends in the Premier League over the last five years.....so no, no signs of insolvency any time soon.

I concede that we do pay wages at the higher end of the scale, but when you pick up players like Tielemans and Kamara (free transfers), McGinn (£2.75m), Rogers (£11m), Konsa (£10m) you need to incentivise performances.

I think we'll be ok......

Had Diouf on toast at times, surprised that Villa didn't exploit that outlet more often.
I'd have McGinn in our side any day of the week.
