Its never ending this nonsense, what a narcissistic pillock getting involved with Iran and opening up a hornets nest.

Yet another year of financial recovery wasted due to this p£&*k.

Just when we finally get over the banking crisis or covid we get Trump and his Tariffs or Trump and his wars.

Its ok some Americans saying they are embarrassed about him but what do they do about it?

Never any protests of any substance and in any case they voted him in. I include the people who didn't vote for anyone else because that was basically the same thing.

TBH, I would bite your hand off if you offered me just one year of disruption due to this **** show.
Not just oil but 30% of the world's fertilizer trade passes through the SoH. Double whammy: Prices of fertilizer will skyrocket, leading to more food price inflation in richer countries and famine in countries too poor or too dependent on SoH trade routes for their fertilizer.
Disruption might be a bit of an understatement if 100s of millions of people go hungry.

The world’s top 100 oil and gas companies banked more than $30m every hour in unearned profit in the first month of the US-Israeli war in Iran, according to exclusive analysis for the Guardian. Saudi Aramco, Gazprom and ExxonMobil are among the biggest beneficiaries of the bonanza, meaning key opponents of climate action continue to prosper.

Trump is meddling in the UK's domestic politics. He's clearly being fed attack lines by some kind of traitor to this country. I will leave it to your own imaginations as to who may be that individual or organisation.

It's the same as Vance attempted last week in Hungary, the same as Vance has done when criticising Zelensky, or attacking Europe over it's defence expenditure ( Munich conference last year).

With regards the UK he is clearly trying to get our PM to buckle and accept Trumps will as law - the delayed Chagos deal has occured because despite it being given the greenlight, in writing , by Rubio, and verbally by Trump, they have decided to try and use it as leverage, and have witheld vital documentation that would have seen the deal go through.

It's fairly standard politics, but pretty rude by Trump and his cronies.

FWIW I think the British public see through it and it's interesting the opinion polls in this country are moving away from those who support Trump.

Starmer doesn't need Trump's endorsement, doesn't want it and in truth is being bolstered by Trumps behaviour, not battered.

For Trump to comment on, in the case of Italy, their immigration policy, and the UK, our energy policy, is a clue as to who may be feeding him his attack lines.

Trump will almost certainly have lost control of the Senate by the end of this year and he will enter the lame duck phase of his Presidency. Some in America, and to be fair, this country, may be of the view the so called "special relationship" will be repaired with a new person in the White House.

I think otherwise. Nobody in Europe, least of all the British public are likely to trust the USA again.

The legacy of Trump's second term will not so much be America First, it will be much more like America Alone.

Splendid isolation.

Hedge funds buying up tariff refunds at a discount (Politico}

LONDON — From Wall Street to Singapore, hedge funds are buying up the chance to claim lucrative but risky tariff refunds from Donald Trump's administration.

Before the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the president's “Liberation Day” tariffs in February, U.S. importers paid $166 billion in extra duties at the border.

They're now hoping to see that full amount refunded — but importers who need cash in hand are already selling the refunds they’re owed on to hedge funds at a discount.

Firms are on track to receive refunds directly, but it’s unclear how long it will take them to get their money back from the Trump administration. And so funds have swooped in to give firms a percentage of the cash they’re owed today in exchange for the full value of the refund when the government pays out.

Getting their Jan 6th convictions quashed so they can do it all again in November..? :chin:
They will run into some substantive details with this...

Trump and DoJ can announce whatever they want. It's not up to them whether this happens - they have to go to court, somewhere that they are getting their posteriors handed to them on a regular basis. A judge isn't going to vacate a lawfully-obtained conviction just because a subsequent administration says they wouldn't have pursued the prosecution if they were in charge at the time. That isn't a thing. They would have to point to some sort of flaw in the process in order to get any traction with this.

And if by some means they were able to get the convictions cancelled, then all these very fine people no longer enjoy their 5th Amendment rights against self-incrimination should they be subpoenaed to testify either in a court of law or Congress.

Adults behaving worse than school kids while attempting to run the show.

What can possibly go wrong?

We're witnessing socially retarded narcissists with zero emotional control throwing their toys around on the biggest stage of all.

And we still, still, think this is a good idea?
