Skee Mask - Pool
Album nineteen in my eighteen album year-end shortlist. I only heard of Skee Mask through this forum when lots of people raved about this album last May. I intended to listen to it, then completely forgot about it until I saw it in KH's list.
It's absolutely stunning. Eighteen tracks and almost two hours of techno, ambient and dub reminiscent of Warp Records in their mid-90s heyday.
I'm listening transfixed, and out of the blue it's quinze points for Skee Mask from me.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now
Are you saying that your Album Of The Year is a record you first heard today sbh? That is a bold move.
It is great though, as is Compro by Skee Mask, which finished second only to Idles in the 2019 KUMB Album Of The Year poll. Basically, our site's resident electronic artist.

I think I'll be listening to it a lot in 2022 though.

The original "Under the Moon of Love" guy.
Followed by Essex Jump'n'Jiver, Jackson Sloan who was the front man of 1980s band Rent Party

Conway Twitty is my doppelganger. Not so much in that particular picture, but generally the resemblance is spooky.
He's a good looking feller, obviously. Not, as the ever fragrant Mrs Monkeybubbles reckons, "like a melted Liberace".

Back searching for the aliens with the 90's ambient sci-fi techno sounds.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now
This has a distinct flavour of early Go-betweens. Which is unsurprising really, because the singer is Tall Bob's son.

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now
Vaguely obsessed by this Canadian band's two albums since stumbling across them recently. Jangly indiepop that references all my old heroes - The Chills, The Wedding Present, The Go-Betweens, The Bats, The Chesterfields, The June Brides, it's all in there and it sounds great.

^ Yay.
Squeaked into my top ten if 2021, mostly for reasons of nostalgia but also for some nice hooky songs.

Burial - Antidawn EP
Five tracks, 43 minutes in total; about as ambient as it gets - virtually no beats, fragments of melody drifting in and out and lots of background white noise. Quite pleasant, actually.
