Re: What did you watch last night?
I'm still working my way through 'Only Murders in the Building' season 2. Can't believe that Steve Martin is 77. He's looking excellent for his age. Obviously he's always looked older than he is due to the hair - but his face, the way he carries himself, talks etc barely seems to have changed in over 30 years. I thought the same fairly recently about John Lithgow when I watched 'The Old Man'. Jeff Bridges in that really does look and talk like an old man now - but John Lithgow didn't really look much different to when he was in Cliffhanger!

Re: What did you watch last night?
got a fair few series to work my way through, but this week I haven't felt like getting into something where I have to keep up and follow night after night.
so as posted earlier, New Tricks I've done the first series and bashed a few Poirot episodes this week also. 1 and a half hours then finished, then a New Tricks finishes up the evening nicely.

Re: What did you watch last night?
I watched Halloween Ends. It wasn't that bad actually (I enjoyed it more than some of the imdb reviewers anyway it seems) - but didn't really feel like a Halloween film. I appreciated them doing something a little different but - if this was supposed to be the last one - then Michael Myers really should have taken centre stage and not relegated to a minor role. After all, he's the reason people are watching it.
Edit: Actually, thinking about it more, one of the things I didn't like was the fact they completely humanised Myers. They reduced him to just being an old man with a mask, still incapacitated from carrying the injuries of the previous films. He looked a bit pathetic really. He even acted a bit pathetically at times. I'm not sure that's acceptable and he deserved better than that send off. I always assumed he was supernatural, but now I'm supposed to believe that this completely human character has survived being shot, stabbed, and burnt numerous times and keeps on coming back as strong as ever? If he was completely human he wouldn't have even survived the fire at the end of the first film in this trilogy. Overall, it felt more like a random Halloween spin off than the concluding part of the Halloween franchise, and that's really how I'm seeing it. I give it 4/10, the missus gives it 5/10

The original Clash Of The Titans is on BBC right now.
The special effects get better each time I watch it.

Watched To Be a Somebody over the weekend, which IIRC was the second storyline of the original series with Robert Carlyle in full psychopath mode as Albie. The murder of DCI Bilborough (Christopher Eccelston) was no less shocking all these years later. Coltrane and Carlyle’s interrogation scene was blistering.Korea Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 7:14 pm Yeah, I couldn't deal with Cracker, even back in the day.

BBC1 and iplayer,
First two eps of the latest series of Strike Troubled Blood
Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger again as the 'oddball' private detectives, with Ruth Sheen as the smart but grumpy 'secretary'. Very good as always.
I did mention that Holliday Grainger is in it didn't I

Re: What did you watch last night?
but Barbara Flynn was in it, I'd had a crush on her in her starched nurses uniform back to "A very peculiar practice"Korea Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 7:14 pm Yeah, I couldn't deal with Cracker, even back in the day.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Realised I'd never seen Die Hard in full - just chunks of it at certain times. Wasn't all that, if I'm honest, but like many blockbusters of the time, you probably needed to see them AT the time, in order to properly enjoy them. I don't imagine anyone watching Commando for the first time in 2022 would be entirely impressed.
Ah, who am I kidding, of course they'd be impressed. Vernon Wells as Bennett remains a high watermark in 80s action.
