McConnaughey's turn in TD#1 is one of the best character performances I have ever seen.

Yep, loved TD1. The whole green eared monster resolution was a bit naff but it was a great series with a superb cast.

plus one for you and macca.Monkeybubbles wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 10:50 am Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy
Part travelogue, part food programme. Stan T bimbles around Italy discovering the cuisine of the regions. Very gentle, very engaging, very beautifully shot, and thankfully the grub is very much the star. Stan is a pretty good actor, of course, but the look that comes over his face when he tries some ricotta fresh out the vat, or a simple pizza with the freshest of fresh ingredients, cannot be f a k e d.
Caution: do not watch if you're hungry. It ruined me.
2 episodes in and it's cracking telly. I recognised Tucci but when I looked at whatever films he's appeared in I can't recollect seeing any of them.
I don't watch CNN either so I'll just have to put it down to seen him and maybe the film didn't stick.
but it's an excellent view. he's very amiable, a good presenter and thank you both for recommending it. it's going on the hard drive for other viewing too. one of those you can stick it on any time and not be disappointed even if you're watching it for the umpteenth time !!

It really is a fantastic show. The amount of detail they go into in terms of BB Easter eggs (or whatever they call it) is a joy to behold. I may actually prefer it to BB?
Have not watched ep 4 yet. Still coming to terms with the end of ep3. Although we all knew that was coming .

Re: What did you watch last night?
BBC2’s excellent documentary about the RM Commandos. That 16 year old kid was quite astonishing in his focus and determination. Wonder if the Beeb will find time to make a doc about all the funding cuts the forces have endured in recent decades?
Caught up with the Idris Elba boxing thing after. Kids seem to be improving quite a bit, which is good to see, especially that Scottish lad who showed off some nice defensive work in his bout.

Been watching Outer Range on Amazon.
Not gonna begin to try and describe it other than that it’s an off the wall slice of Americana with shades of the Cohen Bros and a sci-fi twist. And Josh Brolin’s in it.
It’s very good. Right up my alley.

Just heard about & started watching Toast of Tinseltown on Youtube.
Really enjoying it & have now found out there's a Toast of London so I'll have to watch that afterwards.

BBC The Terror (series 2) Infamy.
Watched all of this. This series set in a Japanese camp in WW11 and is a kind of horror story. We really enjoyed it, perhaps not as much as the first series, but good non the less.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Very much on my own "to watch" pile, sir. Wasn't nearly as well received as the stunning first season when it first aired Stateside but, still, I want to see it. Sounds like a bit of me.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Got this on series record and looking forward to bingeing my way through the whole series.
I loved the first series and thought it was one of the best tv dramas for some time.
I’ve seen the synopsis for this second series and it seems very removed from the first but I will go in with an open mind and see where it takes me.

The superb first at the time and the second this week.
We're not big 'binge' watchers but both these were done in about 3 sittings each.
Cracking stuff.
As with LC, be interested to read your view when you've done

Re: What did you watch last night?
BBC 2 Floodlights.
The 'dramatisation' of the Bennell/ Andy Woodward story, which, although we all know about it was fairly gruesome viewing, so much so that, I would have switched it off but Her OFTness wanted to watch it as it had happened in the main in our home town when our sons were of that age and,
very fortunately it seems, not good enough to go training at the club.
As a drama in its own right it was quite good, as an account of real events almost unbearable viewing.

Re: What did you watch last night?
I thought it was bad.
Vince Vaughan had a facial expression like he was persistently constipated. The presence of McAdams and Reilly was a big plus though.

Re: What did you watch last night?
We recorded this, not sure whether I can watch it though. I read Andy Woodward's book, it is a most horrific story that sadly will never end for him. I knew Bennell too, so not sure I can stomach a dramatisation of the story.OFT wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 1:16 pm BBC 2 Floodlights.

On a lighter note, we caught up on "the Split" ... kind of rinse and repeat on previous series, tinged with a fair bit of sadness, but watchable and got me in the good lady's good books for sticking with it without moaning too much

Re: What did you watch last night?
Re-watching the 3rd season of Stranger Things in preparation for season 4 later this month, I haven't watched it since it first aired in 2019, it's great fun!
