I've not (yet) seen it myself but, no, it's not a Robin Hood thing. It's a contemporary true-crime drama.

I finished The Outlaws last night, a programme that mixed drug-dealing drama, slapstick comedy and genuine pathos to brilliant effect.

Over a few nights, Hugh Laurie in Roadkill. It hinted at being good, but if that was the ending then they just threw the story out the window and ran out of money. I liked the music though, jaunty little jazz theme.

Some superb characters, not least of all 'Diane' the probation officer... Bonkers
You seen both series?

I thought Sherwood was a bit boring and the acting quite wooden personally. Standard British telly.

All of these kinds of things are 'suspend disbelief, all ye who enter' though, aren't they?

Re: What did you watch last night?
I've been watching C4's drama about a cyber attack on the UK, The Undeclared War.
This quote is appropriate here too. Admittedly it's a topic which could have been made incredibly complicated, but instead they went for totally idiot-proof, explaining every plot twist in too much detail. Most of the acting was wooden and there were a host of completely unnecessary supporting characters.chigwells finest wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 2:37 pmit was preposterous cobblers dragged out over 6 weeks

I thought the acting was top drawer from the whole cast with a couple of real stand out turns from Adeel Akhtar and Lesley Manville.

Re: What did you watch last night?
McDonald and Dodds
Our current guilty pleasure. It’s formulaic and typical cosy Sunday night TV, and sometimes that’s all you need. Jason Watkins is one of those actors who is always worth watching and his performance as Detective Sergeant Dodds is delightfully quirky.
For every True Detective , there needs to be a McDonald and Dodds . Series 1 of True Detective that is.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Likewise, we love it, and as you say, most of that is down to Jason Watkins' Dodds. I thought the series had finished and then realised it was on and 20 or so minutes in, so waited for ITV+1 to watch it. I was like a kid on Christmas morningChicken Run Supreme wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 8:33 am McDonald and Dodds

Re: What did you watch last night?
I’ll give you the former but the latter is meh and David Morrissey is well overrated. I thought the best actor was the plod that come up from London (EDIT: Phil Glenister’s brother - I didn’t know that).Chicken Run Supreme wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 7:37 am One man’s meat is another’s poison………

To be honest I didn’t finish it.

Slowly working my way though Stranger Things 4 - it is good but they don't half draw it out. It could be done in half the time. (two more episodes to go)

Re: What did you watch last night?
Will hopefully make just about bearable the return from a two week holiday.
