Department Q - films
5 at the last count I think, going back a few years. based on the books by Jussi Alder-Olsen
books were great, and it's difficult to cover the entire background stories involved in making the lead detective Carl Morck who he is. a miserable old sod with nothing going for him in life.
so far 2 in and they have touched on the events leading up to it but haven't covered it yet in depth and I don't know if they will.
a bit of Scandi Noire which would appeal to ToMoS no end.

‘Department Q’ On Netflix: Your New Favorite Creepy Crime Thrillers
dated 2016 so not sure if they're still available but are from the "usual suspects."

Peacock on BBC iplayer starring MC Grindah with Steves also in it. Fairly decent comedy.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Finished bingeing out on Peaky Blinders from start to finish over the last three weeks or so. Glad I finally got around to it. Cillian Murphy has created an all-time great television character. The last series never really caught fire and mrs.caress and I would roll out eyes and strap ourselves in every time Arthur wound up to make some growling, over-demonstrative speech or another but, on the whole, it was an absorbing tale with a dogs-b*llocks soundtrack. I even bought The Official Peaky Blinders Cookbook: 50 Recipes Selected by The Shelby Company Ltd.

Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy
Part travelogue, part food programme. Stan T bimbles around Italy discovering the cuisine of the regions. Very gentle, very engaging, very beautifully shot, and thankfully the grub is very much the star. Stan is a pretty good actor, of course, but the look that comes over his face when he tries some ricotta fresh out the vat, or a simple pizza with the freshest of fresh ingredients, cannot be f a k e d.
Caution: do not watch if you're hungry. It ruined me.

Want to learn about the first British team to win a European trophy…(spoiler: it’s not who you think it is)

Probably the greatest football documentary ever made

Watched that over the weekend. Quite good but still a bit too much like PJDN and couldn't help think that it was just Grindah in a new life as the acting wasn't too different.iLoveLasagne wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 10:26 pm Peacock on BBC iplayer starring MC Grindah with Steves also in it. The episodes of Ozark last night.
<spoiler>
But poor Ruth, thought she would come out of it surviving and getting one over the family.

Moonfall - I think my IQ dropped watching it but as trash-make-no sense early summer blockbusters go I've seen worse.

Re: What did you watch last night?
After losing interest in The Walking Dead at season 7/8 (I can't remember) a few years ago, I started watching Season 2 again recently, binged the hell out of it, and have now caught up to where I left it, and I'm really enjoying it again, it is what it is, it's nonsense, but it's enjoyable.

might have replied to you a bit earlier up here when I think you said you started again.S-H wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 1:29 pm After losing interest in The Walking Dead at season 7/8 (I can't remember) a few years ago, I started watching Season 2 again recently, binged the hell out of it, and have now caught up to where I left it, and I'm really enjoying it again, it is what it is, it's nonsense, but it's enjoyable.
last season was pretty good, a couple of throwaways of course, but this season (one throwaway so far) has again taken it back to the almost good old days.
nothing I don't think will ever replace the early Rick/Michonne/The Governor days and the bits that followed though.
I really think the stupid escapes that Glen had reminded me of the way early serials at the Saturday Morning Pictures days when Batman had a building fall on him and/or Robin, of they both went up in flames, for you to be asked to tune in next week, only to find the scenes where they either never went into the place or left 2 hours before the tragedy befell the place, were omitted for the previous episode !!!!!

Re: What did you watch last night?
Finished Slow Horses - enjoyed it, although Gary Oldman steals every scene by default and the story wasn’t the greatest I didn’t think.
Season 2 looks like it might be better going by the teaser.

Re: What did you watch last night?
True Detective S2.
Vastly underrated. Never felt compelled to watch it after it got a big of a kicking critically. Way better than is claimed. ****ing miserable as well, but you knew it was coming.

The Courier, with Benedict Cumberbatch, who I rather dislike. Was actually pretty good, if thematically similar to Bridge of Spies.
