Re: What did you watch last night?
Watching a re-run of Detectorists - the opening scene of E1 Series 2 is delightfully bucolic featuring the round-tower church of Aldham St Mary [ Suffolk ] - we initially thought it could have been the church at Fobbing close to where Jen's parents lived - the church there is almost an exact copy .
I want to live in the Detectorists series .

Agree. I've watched the full series now and thoroughly enjoyed it, that after being a bit sceptical re the changes as they were big boots to fill. The Sherriff wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 9:55 am My little girl was in episode 5 .... which aired last night.
Despite the change in lead character, think this series has been good. Well written.
Nice one with your daughter

Re: What did you watch last night?
enjoyed the show..
couple of things though that are bugging me a little...
SPOILER ALERT
1) did it just go p.c. and look to blame the old white guy for the ills of this lady and her family ? although I CAN see a connection, and I also understand that people raised in a particular environment do tend to have that environment to filter down to their kids, but............
2) wouldn't the forensic autopsy show that the half brother was NOT shot in the back of the head ? in the struggle and the gun going off, I'm hazarding a guess that the brother was NOT shot in the back of the head, so any statement that the other brother made up, wouldn't hold water
3) wouldn't the mother get charged with tampering with a corpse and not just let go ?

Funnily enough that's the reason Ms Eggchaser gave for not wanting to watch it. She tried a couple of episodes and said she couldn't like any of the characters.the pink palermo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 9:36 am Extremely late to the party on this one, but watched the first 3 episodes ( series 1) of Succession last night.
Not difficult to see why this gem has such rave reviews. The characters are, in the main, completely odious.
Marvellous television.
Haven't watched it myself.

Succession season 4 episode 1. Still great.
Rabbit Hole on Paramount plus starring Keifer Sutherland. Completely bonkers but very entertaining.

Jonathan Ross Myths and Legends recorded on Monday - the episode was set in Scotland and mostly set around Skye although I didn't spot TOMOS unless he is either Neil Gaiman or a craggy old rock

^^^
Only seen first episode but if that was a sign of things to come, I’m fully on board.
Fast and furious that first episode was and no filler.

It's no Endeavour , that's for sure , but it's hugely entertaining and there's a place for this type of Police Drama too .Chicken Run Supreme wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 7:23 am ^^^

Succession
Started the 4th and final series last night. Carried on from where it left off in S3. A show full of unlikeable shithouses. Compelling viewing.
It never disappoints. In fact, it's easily in my top 10 of all time now

Re: What did you watch last night?
Just started watching ' Rabbit Hole ' on Paramount -
Kiefer Sutherland is John Weir head of a private corporate espionage firm then about two thirds into E1 it becomes apparent that someone is trying to frame him for murder
Think high tech , duplicity , paranoia and conspiracy - ok , I've only watched the first episode but it's really good , thoroughly enjoyable - recommended .

Re: What did you watch last night?
Totally different to the series you've mentioned but Greg also stars in Taskmaster and I would recommend that to anybody. Absolutely superb and pretty unique television. All series are on All4 and and a new one starts tomorrow night. The Old Man of Storr wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 1:54 pm The Cleaner - Greg Davies [ BBC One ]

Re: What did you watch last night?
Yep. There's not really much to it, just awful people financially screwing each over but it's just so good with incredible actors throughout.westham, eggyandchips wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 2:43 pm Succession

We've just finished episode 2 of 'The Gold' ...... absolutely loving it.Billy Hunt wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 9:14 am Laid up with Covid over the weekend I did the whole series of Gold, with fairly low expectations.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, with some great performances.
Am now 4 episodes into the new series of Unforgotten and realy enjoing this too
Great casting, most know the story of Brinks Matt but this goes wider and deeper into the backdrop story.
Cant speak for the whole series but would definately recommend it off what I've seen so far!
Hope the old covid weren't too savage - I had it last week but passed with little more than a few hours of feeling **** and a bit of a cold.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Was that your first time?
Havent seen it in an age but it brings back some many lovely memories of a certain vintage .
Very, very, very good film. Nothing beats a biopic.

Re: What did you watch last night?
I did take a look at it briefly , Jastons but to be perfectly honest I didn't have a clue what was going on .
After completing Blue Lights last night we moved on to the latest version of Great Expectations - despite knowing the story inside out I thought this one up with the best I've seen .
