Luther on Netflix. Wasn't expecting much but actually me and the missus thought it wasn't bad. Luther has always veered into ludicrous territory and this was no exception.
To be honest the whole Alice subplot got on my nerves so it was good she's out of the equation.

I don't know what's more annoying. The Luther character or the song...

Tyrant: The rise of Hitler- I'm fascinated by the bloke..The programme, raised a question I don't think has been raised before, for the architect of one true Aryan race, he was scarcely Aryan looking, himself. Not particularly tall, indeed, 5ft 9". He was not blond, but brown haired and not muscular, but of sleiht sleight build and his chief sidekick Josef Goerbels, was even less Aryan looking, Jewish ancestry and with a club foot, that in itself as was frowned upon, as indeed was any form of physical disability by the Nazi hierarchy. The programme left no stone unturned

Office Space. I should have heeded the warning back in 2000 when I first saw it. Why didn’t I? Cowardice, I suppose.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Watched the final one last night (oddly for me as I don't like watching last episodes of characters I love - never seen the remorseful day). Thought this series was excellent a return to the form of the earlier ones.DaveWHU1964 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 10:49 pm Another one blown away with soggy eyes.
That last scene was genuinely astonishing - a perfect, thing of beauty. To end* 35 years of wonderful television with the best scene of those 35 years didn't seem possible. I didn't think the last scene of The Sopranos could be bettered but without a word being spoken last night, it was. And all with a fantastic and obviously knowing reference to the first Endeavour episode and a tribute to two wonderful actors. Perfect writing doesn't begin t cover it.
The transition was done excellently with McNut getting a mention, still think they missed a trick not making Thursday McNut but that would have also been a different dynamic to the whole series.
I liked the Latin it was a very morse touch. Didn't get the gun shot bit either. Maybe it was supposed to symbolise the death of endeavour and the birth of 'just morse'.
Loved the last bit with, as you say, the nod to morse and the 1st episode of endeavour.
Overall it's been a real treat of a programme. Now off to watch through morse again (except the last one)

Good Time (2017) - a gritty crime thriller starring Robert Pattinson. Never heard of this before but after noticing it had scored 7.1 on imdb, I thought I'd give it a go. It was very good - I only found out afterwards that it was directed by the Safdie brothers who came up with 'Uncut Gems' after this movie.

Re: What did you watch last night?
A thriller / black comedy called 'Thursday' (1998) starring Thomas Jane & Aaron Eckhart. This was another highly rated on imdb (7.1) that I'd never heard of before. Directed by someone called Skip Woods who never directed another film after this. It was his one and only. It was pretty good and I'd probably agree with the imdb rating.

Re: What did you watch last night?
The Lost City.
The wife picked this one but it was rather enjoyable.
Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum play novelist and handsome cover model respectively who get swept up into a adventure not far off one of Bullock’s books.
Definitely reminded me of Romancing The Stone, but with some even higher quality comic timing from the pair. The are an excellent comedy combination.
Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt support and as expected, do great.
Worth a watch.

Luther movie on Netflix
Went in with expectations lowered based on the mixed reviews it has had and ended up rather enjoying it. Admittedly parts of the plot were implausible but as an entertainment vehicle, it’s a decent two hours with Andy Serkis excellent as the snuf porn bad guy.

The Whale. Wonderfully acted but terribly sad.
Watch something funny afterwards.
