I'm going to see the new Top Gun tomorrow, so I thought it only sensible to watch the first one tonight.

It was one of the most hideous films I've ever seen. It's a complete cheese cringefest with utterly detestable characters.

Bodes well for tomorrow :crossed:

it was 20 or so years ago and there wasn't the greatest plot ever..

I do remember though (and it's a stretch for sure) it was just a "feel good" movie that was great at the cinema.

I sit back and just enjoy those kind of films and just want to be entertained.

I imagine that if you go in expecting nothing, you'll have a great time...

I wanted to be entertained! I didn't go in expecting Tarantino, but I hoped it might be fun.

I gave it a 2/10, which I thought was generous. One point for the character of Goose, and another for the fighter jet sequences actually looking good.

One more positive about Top Gun, if I meet anyone who says they like Top Gun, I know to never, ever trust their film recommendations.

I was asked recently if id seen Maverick. My response was very similar when referring to the original Top Gun.

Why would I spunk my hard earned on the sequel?

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned already, and apologies if it has, but we've just started We Own this City

For you boys and girls that love The Wire you'll love this.

Its about corruption in the Baltimore Police Department, and also based on a true story. First episode started a little slowly but really warmed up toward the end.

On Sky Atlantic.

I’ve had the soundtrack to season one leftovers on the past couple of days after hearing one of the standout tracks on season 5 of Peaky Blinders

Phenomenal show and Max richter’s soundtrack is sublime :newthumb:

Munich-Edge of War on Netflix.

It's pretty good and is very quick 2 hour plus though the main English actor was a little unconvincing and Hitler reminded me of Catherine Tate playing the "How Very Dare You" bloke.

Working through Peacemaker - It is 'just' keeping hold of me but it is not very stimulating to be honest. Might struggle to make it through the episodes at this rate (done three).

Will move on to Stranger Things next (might need to watch some of Season 3 first, can't remember anything about it)

Yet to see this but have it on my watchlist.

Tucker and Dale versus Evil remains one of my all time favourite comedy horrors.

Started with Sherwood last night, only the first episode so far.

Read lots of good reviews on here about it, does it ramp up a bit as it progresses ?

¬¬

ETA - Episode 2, Alan... Didn't see that coming :shocker:

The makings of a very good series this

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father. Savagely-sad 2008 documentary about a murdered 28-year-old medic produced by his childhood friend.

That's not the half of it, but I'll not elucidate should anyone wish to watch it.

I love this show, the pure arrogance of the currupt police is unbelievable, actually can't wait for them to be caught and sent down

Finally got round to stranger things 4. Watched episode 1+2, one took an age to get going and could have easily been half the length. Two got better and was a decent watch.

Aside to this season has some real dark moments, my 12 year old wants to see this and I’ve refused (doubly so after watching this.) Couldn’t have been far off being rated 18.
