The Parallax View
One of those films that for no particular reason I’d never gotten round to watching but I saw it was on Sky Cinema the other day and stuck on record for future viewing and gave it a spin last night. Made in 1974 and directed by Alan J Pakula it is a fantastic conspiracy theory based thriller. Warren Beatty gives a typically understated performance in the lead role of a political journalist looking into the aftermath of the assassination of a presidential candidate where witnesses to the shooting are all being bumped off. It’s very atmospheric and oozes the ‘70s and the director would go on to make an all time favourite of mine, All The Presidents Men a mere two years later.
It really is a great movie, taut and gripping all the way to the stunning finale. Another movie I wish I had given the time of day a long time ago but at the same time, I do like ‘discovering’ great movies and The Parallax View is exactly that.
It’s also the sort of performance from Beatty that makes you realise what a great actor he is and he really should have made more films.

I've started watching a show from about 8 years ago called Kingdom. It's about an ex MMA fighter & his gym that he runs in LA.
I'm not into MMA (MDMA is another matter though) at all but really enjoying it.

Re: What did you watch last night?
finished Arctic Circle.
very predictable ending, seemed all over the place with a plot that wandered. or maybe I just couldn't keep up properly.
ended up going to a second series, suffice to say i won't be following.
not up to the usual Walter Presents imvho it was nothing more than "okay."

I watched episode 2 of China On Film yesterday from Smithsonian or PBS America or something. It's really worth seeing. A piece of 20th century history rarely mentioned in this country - the Sino-Japanese War. World At War standard TV, just needed Larry Olivier doing the spiel.

Re: What did you watch last night?
I watched 'The Terrifier 2'.
What a great character Art the Clown is. Definitely gets the award for cinemas scariest clown. Pennywise is a pussycat compared to this guy.
Stay away from this film if you have a weak stomach. It's definitely one for the gorehounds. Only to be expected when the director and writer is also a horror movie special effects wizard. Plenty of practical effects for those fed up with CGI, and it's very very gruesome and extreme. I liked it a lot although the end scene dragged a bit and the film could have easily been edited down to be 20 minutes shorter.

Finished The Bear.
The best TV show of the year. Must watch.
Almost a shame they are making a 2nd season. Doesn't really need it

Re: What did you watch last night?
Terrifier and Terrfier 2.
Two of the sickest and most violent and brutal Horror movies I have even seen with one of the most evil horror villains I even seen on Screen.
Loved every minute of them and already cant wait for the 3rd movie to comes out.
Art The Clown may now be my number 1 horror villian. (Perhaps 2nd only to Pinhead from Hellraiser) He makes Pennywise from IT seem like a decent down to earth kind of Villian.
Defo do not watch if you have a weak stomach.
The scene in the bedroom that just went on and on. Salt into the wounds never was more apt and made the saw scene from the first one look quite tame.
Oh and I actually like the song in the film as well.
Read a comment from someone who reviewed the Movies the other day say this..
"After watching Terrifier 1 and 2, you feel like you need to go and watch something a bit more light hearted, something a bit less brutal. Something like Saw or Hostel"
What a spot on comment, imho anyway.
Edited, just saw BurnleyHammers post above. Seen a fair few say the movie was a little to long. I was so engrossed in it that for me it just flew by.
Hard to believe that the 1st one was made on a budget of only $350000 and the 2nd on just $2500000. Put all the big budget blockbuster movies to shame.

C4
My Dead Body.
Documentary about a young single mum who, knowing she was dying from a very rare Cancer left her body to medical science The programme showed parts of her life, her family, her illness, and ultimately, the autopsy of her body as a teaching/research aid, narrated using technology, by the woman herself.
Her story, for me, more interesting than the actual scenes of autopsy.

Yep, we watched that too, and you're quite right, horrible . The police interviewers must have the patience of saints to deal with those types.

I've been watching Cracker this week.
The murders have been grusome.
