Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

Christmas songs on tv or radio. There isn't one of them that I ever need to hear again.
In fact, so far this year I haven't heard a single one - but, it is only the second of December. There's no way that I'm going to avoid every single one.
Which ties in with something that I heard about for the first today - the game of 'Whamageddon'.
I like it, except I want it for all Christmas songs, not just the Wham one.
Some of the worst occasions are in shops & supermarkets, especially when they're played at too high a volume.
I honestly wonder how shop workers don't end up going 'postal'..
I was working from home yesterday and had the radio on.
All Christmas songs, so I tuned into Classic FM.
Even they had Christmas songs....soul destroying

I feel your pain, many years back I had a right result. I was offered both the Saturday & Sunday overtime to finish off some bits at the serpentine gallery.
The Saturday was fine, but boy, come the Sunday it was 'soul destroying'. All bloody day, every single radio station that I could pick up played non-stop dirge. IIRC even the small number of pirate stations I could pick up from the basement at the serpentine stopped their normal music lists, just funeral music and commentary on Diana.
Oh and for weeks to come afterwards, the number of visitors who swung by and left flowers. These were left to rot, as no one in the local parks/council offices had the cojones to get rid of them.

A few years ago I was driving late at night and the radio station played a xmas song that proclaimed that it was a "pain in the arse" and as I recall was full of things like auntie getting drunk on sherry - I have no idea whom the song was by. The irritation is that whenever someone asks me my favourite xmas song this is the one that I wish to nominate and I can't.

Christmas is a pain in the arse by The Accelerators?
Turning on Radio X the other day, for the first time in years. What was the hip alternative station playing? Elton-****ing-John followed by the ****ing Beatles.

Each year I make a mental note of how far into the Christmas period I can get until I hear Fairytale of New York. My current record stands at the 23rd of December, and I can't see myself bettering that.

On all the stations I listen to, all frigging day.
I can only put up with so much, so moved to Classical and that had them as well.
There must be some relief!

As always, the station you need is BBC 6 music,no adverts,no Christmas songs.
Finding out the Ashes are on BTsport.... Yes I will watch it anyway but it is so expensive to do it legit. £27 for BT my whole Sky is £37 (Sport, Netflix, UHD and all)
