More kayaking news (I’m sure you’ll be thrilled to hear). My kids school was given special permission to compete against a load of private schools in their “national schools competition”. They put loads of provisos in place to ensure we only brought our juniors, because they didn’t want their precious kids losing to a bunch of state school plebs. So we took the 12 year olds to compete with kids up to 17 and promptly came home in third place overall 😁

I tried not to take the chip-on-my-shoulder over private schools with me, but ooh, they were a proper pack of obnoxious pricks. Openly sneering at the state school kids & parents, absolutely no attempt to conceal their contempt. Glad we gave out a few bloody noses today. Incredibly proud of the kids. They’re nobody’s mugs and won’t be punked by anyone.

Completely understand that Hammond and his mates antics on Top Gear/Grand Tour are a bit Marmite but this has popped up in a couple of different places for me this week and it's going to stick with me for some time.

Really?

Both of mine went to a private prep school (one is still there). I never really felt that from any of the parents when the kids have been in multi school events.

That said most of the parents are professional, intelligent people and not utter ****ers.

The worst people are the 20 something women who've married rich 50 plus men and who would likely be drawing the dole if they hadn't . If it is those types then I whole heartedly agree with you. I've always stayed clear of them.
