Little things in life that make you smile

Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

Maybe my spidey-sense is uncommonly sensitive towards condescension from the upper middle classes. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing though, little knobbers scoffing at the state school kids in their midst.

Generally, tell your kids to bide their time and when they're older, they can rip them off for a fortune to do the most easiest of jobs as they won't have a clue how to even change a light bulb and they have a melt down in the process.

Now that will make you smile!

Brilliant isn't it.

Put him in there expecting him to be humiliated, now he's in the final.

Got to be some rogue voting going on, hope he wins personally.

Will make a mockery of the whole thing.

I went to a private school courtesy of a full assisted place and was in the year of some very spoilt bastards. Some of whom got everything they wanted and never heard the word no. I faced some dreadful snobbery over things like divorced parents or holiday destinations.

Snobbery exists. I’ve mixed around affluent people and some of the things they say when their guard is down is abhorrent.

I really don't understand snobbery. Don't they realise it just makes them look like an utter, judgemental c*nt?
Not that they care, of course..

Of course they don’t. Mummy and Daddy’s money and connections ensure they get through life with ease.

I’m far from a violent guy but I’d often face up to them in London pubs if they started with snide comments. Never once would they say another word. Within ten minutes they’d drink up and leave.

They couldn’t exist where I live. They’d get glassed.

I'm going to hell for this!

Someone I know ( and no not me) had met the love of his life and after having gone out with this woman for just over a year, they both wanted to sort out a long term contraceptive solution.

To cut a long (and sorry) story short, he agreed to have the snip.

So last week he goes and has it done and he's right proud about it, telling everyone. He's looking forward to his first non condom shag.

This week he tells me he's been dumped by the love of his life with immediate effect.

By text!

And he didn't even get his non condom shag!

I couldn't help but laugh - in private - the bloke is distraught.

Regardless of how she felt, he should have only done that if he was absolutely certain he'd never want kids (or more kids assuming he already has them). If he came to the decision that he doesn't then it shouldn't have really mattered whether she dumped him or not. I had the snip because I already had 3 kids and one more would have probably drained me. I would have never done it simply because another person wanted me to do it. There's some chance it can be reversed though isn't there?
