Re: The United Colours of West Ham
A couple of Portugeezers made their first competitive appearance for the club this week. Mésaque Djú and Gonçalo Cardoso both played for the U21 side that won 3-1 at Southend in the FA Trophy. I've added them to the supplementary list at the bottom of the OP.

Re: The United Colours of West Ham
Each country's players should be listed cronologically now.Up the Junction wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 12:44 pm A little bump for this thread, as I was trying to determine who the last American to play for WHUFC was.
EDIT: That said, it should be in cronological order of 'debut'. Ogbonna is not our most recent Italian debutant, but he is the last Italian to have played for the club.

Seb Haller has switched national allegiances, and is now our third Ivorian.

Re: The United Colours of West Ham
Whilst doing a bit of research for another project I have happened upon the following information:
Moses Ashikodi represented Antigua & Barbuda at international level. He's not on the list as he never played for us, but we've never had an Antiguan (or Barbudan) play for the club.
Christian Bassila switched allegiance from France to Congo. He was called into 2 squads and never made an appearance (the first call up was blocked by FIFA before a relaxation of the rules), but he is (or was) our first and only representitive from the Republic of Congo.
As expected, Ravel Morrison has switched allegiance to Jamaica. He now has 2 caps and is our 3rd Reggae Boy, all of whom have surnames beginning with 'M'. Ravel now plays for Den Haag.

Re: The United Colours of West Ham
Followers of this thread should be able to have a decent bash at this:

Obviously all the answers are in the OP on here, so can you name the top 20 overseas nations represented by West Ham players? (There's actually 22 answers).
I made the quiz myself and still only got 19/22

Cheers for the feedback. I'll extend it.

Two things:
1. one player features as a named player more than once (I won't spell it out to avoid spoiling it for others).
2. Still not enough time, for me, but I may be a slow-coach.

Named twice in the same country line or named twice in different countries? I can't find it.prophet:marginal wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 4:33 pm one player features as a named player more than once
(there is one country with 2 named notable representatives that share the same surname)

Masuaku also shifted allegiance from France to Congo and has had a few caps for them since 2018.LeonRivers wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 5:35 pm Christian Bassila switched allegiance from France to Congo. Re: The United Colours of West Ham
That's actually a different Congo. There's 'Republic' and 'Democratic Republic' of Congo. They're know by Congo and DR Congo respectively. Ilunga was another from DR Congo.

Re: The United Colours of West Ham
Pelly Ruddock, who made one appearance for us in the League Cup back in 2013, has recently switched allegiances to DR Congo and won his first caps in a pair of friendlies in June.
With Arthur Masuaku also switching allegiance recently we have now had three representatives from DRC play for the club, with Herita Ilunga the first.

Re: The United Colours of West Ham
Just a quick note that former Hammer Seb Lletget played for the USA men yesterday v. Canada. He laid on the winning goal after 20 seconds, then took over the captain's armband when Zimmerman went off injured. Perhaps a trivia question one day?
He looks a tidy and talented player who has done well since he left us. I wonder what might have been . . .
