Re: The United Colours of West Ham
I'd expect that Areola and Zouma will be our 19th and 20th Frenchman respectively!
Double the amount of players from our Second most represented country.
Vlasic will be our 6th Croatian, with Kral our 9th Czech player.

Does Di Canio count? Was capped for Italy's U21's and their B team but never the senior team.
EDIT: Just seen it's anyone who's that nationality and has played for the club, nevermind.

He's a great story.LeonRivers wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 3:34 pm Pelly Ruddock, who made one appearance for us in the League Cup back in 2013, has recently switched allegiances to DR Congo and won his first caps in a pair of friendlies in June.
With Arthur Masuaku also switching allegiance recently we have now had three representatives from DRC play for the club, with Herita Ilunga the first.
Mpanzu Earns First International Call-Up
Missed by all the professional academies and ends up at Boreham Wood as a teenager. Doesn't make the grade with us but then drops down to play regular football for Luton in League Two. Comes up the leagues with them, has played pretty much everywhere other than in goal or up front, and is now captain as they try to establish themselves in the Championship.
Gone from looking like he missed out on a professional career to probably going down as a bit of a modern day legend for what's become "his" club.

Our academy gets some stick for not producing Premier League players but we have a steady flow of professionals for sure.
Ward, Noble, Tomkins, Collison, Stanislas, Sears, Ruddock, Moncur, Potts, Turgott, Spence, Lletget, Cohen, Maguire, Martinez, Diangana, Scully, Cullen, and I'm sure there's more I've forgotten, all playing at a decent level of football.

Areola is french, born in Paris, but he's eligible to play Philippines national team as he's got Filipino heritage on both parents side. Surely a first, even if it don't count properly

Two debuts tonight.
Alex Kral is our 9th Czech.
Alphonse Areola makes it a nice, round, pert, beautiful 20 from France.

A little bump for this thread given it's been four months since our most recent update. Hopefully one or two more to come in the next few weeks.

Gianluca Scamacca is the 8th Italian to play for West Ham.
Only 5 [non-home] nations have provided more players.

Re: The United Colours of West Ham
Think you've broken the rules there boss, if you've added Kehrer?
Looks like he has to sit on the bench (bottom of the list) with Aguerd until he's played a competitive match for us.

Other than English what languages are spoken fluently by more than one of our players now?
French - Areola, Zouma, Aguerd, Cornet, Benrahma, Masuaku
Spanish - Lanzini, Fornals,
Italian - Ogbonna, Emerson, Scamacca
Portuguese - Emerson, Paquetá
Czech - Coufal, Soucek
Arabic - Aguerd, Benrahma
Who have I missed?
