I used to skateboard, it's an absolute sausage fest.

Edit: Which he may like of coarse..

How about figure skating?
We're a long way from an ice-rink. Ballroom dancing perhaps? Let's be honest, as a card-carrying member of the yoghurt-knitting, guardian-reading, trans-loving, liberal tosh brigade - I think I'd be disappointed with myself if I didn't at least give him a decent crack with both the boys and the girls.

At the moment my thinking is that skateboarding will probably mean more trips to A&E, whilst ukelele will mean that I have to listen to someone playing the ****ing ukelele every evening.

Maybe I could opt out on religious grounds!?

Playing an instrument is cool*, but... the ukelele? I guess it's an entry-level drug towards guitar, but hasn't been a babe magnet since about 1935

Conversely, I see a surprising (to me) number of female skateboarders around now - still largely a sausage fest, but not entirely.

(* within reason - there are very few cool tuba players, for example)

If you haven't got a skateboard, they're easy to find.

If you haven't got a ukelele, UKE HUNT!

Skateboarding is so much more than the sum of its parts. It takes you places physically and mentally, and makes you look at the world very differently. Plus the "culture" has always been cool - the best music, the best clothes, and the industry is wholly owned by skateboarders, not greedy corporates.

The positive is you can convince him that window cleaning is all part of the training, bit like wax on, wax off. :newthumb:

It must be ukelele week in the stars. I was assigned a large classroom this week which also had a sink & draining board at the back. Piled around these are about 15 ukeleles in very expensive-looking flight cases and in very good condition. Must be some kind of teacher training thang.
Also, the last time I worked in this building was 11 years ago when my pair teacher was a hippy lady who I bid goodbye to on her way to a festival with a pink ukelele on her back-pack.
Uke an see a pattern there.

Skateboarding looks pretty easy, even a bollard can do it

Dunno if this is the appropriate thread but I'm looking at a new job that comes with a salary, a £2k supplement and quarterly bonus.
I didn't want to sound stupid in the interview and have to ask,
Can anyone explain what a supplement is?

I think in some industries salaries are banded and your employer can't go outside of those bands. So to make a job more appealing they can include a supplement, which increases the pay packect without breaking the banding.

Probably got that wrong....

Why do some adults using public toilets stand with their trousers and pants round their ankles when using the urinals??

Thank God I have never seen that one.

In a similar vein,

I have always wondered about when most blokes are sitting on the bowl in a public or workplace toilets taking a dump and their pants and undercrackers are down by their ankles etc.. the inside of your undercrackers is actually touching the outside porcelain of the toilet bowl.

That part of the toilet NEVER gets cleaned, ( most cleaners only concentrate on cleaning the crap inside the bowl and the toilet seat area )

it's filthy and covered in germs and when you finish you pull up your undercrackers with this dirt on them and are exposing your undercarraige to all sorts of stuff.

I make it my business to make sure mine are not in contact with it,

what are your thoughts
