It's lovely. We were selling it for a while before the bloke who invented it sued us.

On a separate note.........

Where did the expression "Kick the living s h ! t out of someone" come from?

I can understand just kicking the s h ! t out of someone but why would it be living?

Why when we say, 'I couldn't care less', Americans say, 'I could care less'?
Ours makes sense, whereas theirs doesn't.

Famed for not using it, I would say that the septics are indulging in a touch of irony, to say it like that.

In the same way as saying 'that's a coincidence!' in a certain way that suggests its not one at all.

Think it comes from non English speaking immigrants to the US simply missing out the negative contraction and that becoming the normal utterance. I associate it with Yiddish speakers but I can't remember why.

That's all I want to know really.
Wasn’t that a question in some Oxbridge entrance exam once, and some cleverclogs answered ‘Because.’ They got in whilst other students who wrote reams, failed.

It's roughly half & half.

The half that say COULDN'T make fun of the half that say COULD & they are too stupid to understand why

Spend some time working for American corporates and you’ll soon understand why.

Why are there no national flags with pink or purple in them?

Purple dye was prohibitively expensive back in the day. It’s why purple is perceived to be a regal colour as only royalty could afford purple clothing.

Re. purple on flags. Dominica's features a parrot with purple feathers and Nicaragua's has a purple stripe in the rainbow. Spain (lion) and Mexico (flowers) have pink.

edited to add: agreed there are no national flags with large purple (or pink) panels, for the reason James P gave.

Why, when there an accident with one person injured, are there sometimes three or four ambulances at the scene?

My guess is that a crowd of slightly hysterical people all ring the ambulance service at the same time with different versions of what actually is going on.
The then send multiple ambulances just in case.
Why they hang about at the scene once it's become clear that the only injury is for someone trying to have a claim up Is a different matter.
