well cheers Pete
I'd only just got over watching the farewell scenes from the ground, having only just gotten over the farewell at the awards
tears for 3 bloody times now ..

Been with us through thick and thin. Always remained a class act on and off the pitch, whatever the circumstances.
I hope Carlton’s got it right, because if Mark Noble is influencing our youth players in the future, we’re in good hands.

I liked your post, then felt I needed to say more.
Ben Shepherd, Sir Trevor, fim stars, musicians, single mums and dads, families, rich, poor, whatever......
Ben Shepherd said Noble understands us. He does, our special members club. Free to join, no annual fee, watching on TV, social media or at the ground.
Ben got that right. We're all connected. It feels bloody great on days like this.

Pete
it's a good job you're a great bloke or else a hit squad would be headed toward The Bay Area..
I honestly cannot imagine how emotional it must have been for all concerned, players, management, staff, fans etc. etc.
never retired from a job really..well I did from the last place, 4 solid years (I know I know) and not even a handshake or commemorative coffee mug !!!!

That's why you've got to take one of the mugs with you. Or the red stapler.
All of this from today reminds me of just how incredible Bonzo was. Billy played nearly 300 more games than Mark. That's just mind blowing. That's making me get weepy now.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend 500 up
Been watching some of the Nobes interviews.
I struck me that our players are all very WORKING CLASS lads.
No egos, no prima Donna's. Just honest, hard working lads.
Like the old days.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Craig Dawson has a membership at Rochdale Conservative Club, plays golf and once told a waiter to bring him the restaurant's best wine without checking the price.Bucksexile wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 9:27 am Been watching some of the Nobes interviews.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend 500 up
Phew... well that was all a bit emotional wasnt it? And every one of those videos brings another tear to the the eye.
Lucky and privileged to have been there, and to have seen such a wonderful man's entire career from start to finish with our club.
"He's only 17, he's better than Roy Keane"
I can still picture his young, embarrassed face when that was sung, shaking his head.
Hat doffed to the club for giving him this send off, the media team have also done a wonderful job.
Our much maligned (and rightly so) board did something right yesterday - they kept out of it and made sure it was Noble's occasion with Sir Trev out there on the clubs behalf.
The walk round the pitch summed him up, from leading the players and family on their way, he happily withdrew into the masses to make sure it wasn't just about him.
I do not want Noble as our manager, not ever. Crowds turn against their managers, he should never be in that position.
I want him to be that special person he has always been, behind the scenes, helping everyone, making sure those that come into the club totally get the club - from first team through to the youngsters.
Not sure what the role should be called, maybe it should officially just be Mr. West Ham

I love Noble as much as anyone, but I felt strangely unmoved by yesterday’s show. Not knocking it, it just felt very remote. The more things are bigged up the smaller they become.
Looking forward to giving him a proper goodbye at Brighton.

Got similar concerns yesterday, club using it's overused template: fire, loud music, videos, all exactly same way as every single "big Euro night at LS" last season, meanwhile it was much much more than another "big Euro night at LS", even the biggest one.Doc H Ball wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 10:07 am I love Noble as much as anyone, but I felt strangely unmoved by yesterday’s show. Sitting here hanging out my arse watching these videos, shedding a few tears.
Unsurprisingly, it was Noble who summed it up. He lived his dream and by doing that, he lived all of ours. Captaining the club that you love at the very top of English football.
It's going to be weird next season to see a West Ham squad without Noble. A lot has been said about his character and the type of person he is but let's not forget, he was a top footballer as well. You simply cannot measure all that Noble brought to the team in this statistic loving world we living. Things like that Herrera lift or a crunching sliding tackle to gee up those on and off the pitch.
