I love the man.

I do hope he sees his future in football - a West Ham without him won't feel right.

I predicted in the prediction thread before this season started that he’d have a bigger part to play this season than we anticipated. And other than Genk away, is there any games this season Noble hasn’t played particularly well in? This includes matches against the 2 Manchester clubs.

A question for anyone good with stats - What’s the record of goals we’ve conceded whenever Noble has been brought off the bench, since the start of last season? I feel like we strangely never concede a goal whenever he is brought onto the pitch.

Anyone would have struggled with that pressing from Genk. Dodgy formation and the wrong line up as well.

The commentators had it right last night in terms of his influence on the pitch. You could hear him a number of times settling the team and giving instructions. A real manager on the pitch.

Just a shame for Mark that he didn't get to play with a squad like this one five years ago.

He did well. He might want to stay another year if we get Europe again.

I’m unsure about goals conceded, but since the start of last season Noble has made 18 sub appearances. We won 14, drew 2 and lost 2.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing, Doc. :newthumb: Of course that doesn’t completely tell the full story. As some of those games he may even have only been on the pitch for as little as 5 minutes. But that record is still impressive for someone supposedly coming to the end of his career.

Great to see him high up the pitch, making the cutting pass for the penalty.

I had a bit of time to work it out.

3 goals conceded in those 18 games when he came on as a sub.

The only one we lost points from was Arsenal when they got an equaliser in the 3:3 draw last season. Unless you count the Man U penalty substitution of course when he was on the pitch for 1 second and missed.

He looked pretty down after that so it was great seeing him beaming again last night. He’s been written off more than the Rolling Stones and still bounces back.

Did well last night against limited opposition.
Have said for the last few years, his best position now is further forward. He can still pick a pass.

Funny, I watched the interview with him on BT last night and he appeared more disconnected than I've ever seen before.

When they asked him about dreams and walking out lifting the Europa trophy, he answered it dutifully, but he looked like he knew it wasn't really a question for him these days.

Yes, he has a role, but nothing resembling the one of five years ago.

I think there was a 5 second delay on the satellite feed so his interview came across as a bit stilted.

There was definitely a bit of a delay as even Moyes took quite a while to answer his questions.

This little lad from Canning Town has racked up 535 appearances for the club he supported as a kid, is just 13 games away from being 6th in the list of all time appearances for West Ham (keeping company with the likes of Billy Bonds, Bobby Moore, and Trevor Brooking) and has notched 60 goals along the way (just 3 goals off our all time top 20 scorers list).

He has played more Premier League games than any other West Ham player and since making his first team debut in 2004 he has gone on to become the longest serving player at any club in Europe's major leagues, has picked up two hammer of the year awards and a hammer of the decade award.

He has also just captained West Ham into the last 16 of the Europa League...

Ladies and Gentlemen, appreciate him while you have him, Mark Noble.

I saw it totally differently, focused, not getting drawn into too much excitement, job done, we expected to win…most focused I have ever seen him, I think I had a boner

This club is focused on winning something, no dicking around, these boys want to win

Plus his penalty record 39 scored 5 missed, not bad considering we don't get many too !

I've watched that pen he scored midweek about 20 times.

Perfect placing & pace, with an expression on his boat that was 'pick that out' before he kicked it.

Love ya Nobes.

Great to see Mark Noble trending on Twitter, with tweets like:-

A Barcelona vs West Ham Europa league final in which Mark Noble scores the penalty that wine West Ham the Europa League in his last game before retirement

You can’t make this **** up brother

Pessimistic as I am, I can’t help but shake the feeling that we’re going to win something this year - we’re going to see Declan win it in the pitch, and pass the armband to Nobes before heading up the steps to receive a trophy.
