Re: No Man's Sky
Got it and am really enjoying it at moment.
I would like to see more NPCs walking the worlds rather than just alien animals. Would also be nice to bump into other plays etc.
Feel I should push back on with main goal of it…..

So everyone's losing their s**t over this now. I've waited years for it to finally come out and now it has people are getting their money back saying they were lied to?. So should I actually get it ?

Re: No Man's Sky
The reviews haven't been entire cruel or kind either way, and with an average score of 7.1/10 I'm not personally not getting sucked in.
Is as repetitive and monotonous as some are saying? By the looks of UTJ and 1972 they are surely getting their money's worth.
I've got my eyes on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided as my next purchase so I'll consider giving this a go later this year at a cheaper price.

It is repetitive. Monotonous? Well I'm still having fun playing a couple of hours every other night.SirStoneyOfBow wrote:Is as repetitive and monotonous as some are saying? By the looks of UTJ and 1972 they are surely getting their money's worth.
Though I suspect I may have a higher boredom threshold than your average 13-year-old COD player.

Conversely I have recently put it aside for a while.
Not for ever, I plan to return to it at some point, hopefully when they have added a few more features/bit more variation in.
But after a few weeks I needed a change of pace so bought Doom, pretty much the polar opposite in every way!

Doom is a perfect tonic to any game. Love it.Hammer1972 wrote:Conversely I have recently put it aside for a while.

A good few games I like have that repetitive gameplay quirk but still work for me. Far Cry 3 & 4 are rinse lather and repeat in terms of what to do. Fallout 4 is the same. Doom is little else but run and gun but it's all I ask from it.Up the Junction wrote: It is repetitive. Monotonous? Well I'm still having fun playing a couple of hours every other night.

I'll get it when I'm stuck at home come the winter.

Re: No Man's Sky
I live in the great lakes area so I'm used to getting 80-100 inches of snow every winter which keeps me a bit more homely than I would like, but just like a squirrel I appreciate keeping my nuts warm.GingerJohn wrote: Are you a squirrel?

Same boat.. Apparently there's mods out on PC now which improve the game dramatically.Hammer1972 wrote:Conversely I have recently put it aside for a while.

Re: No Man's Sky
UTJ, are you still playing this?
If so you must be quite far in, has anything new/different actually happened in the game as you have gone further in?

I haven't played for a few days. Completed the Atlas path though, waste of time (and cost me 5m units).

Re: No Man's Sky
Hmm, really in two minds about whether to go back to this one again. There's always so much new stuff coming out and I get so little time to play I don't want to waste it on a game that goes nowhere...

Re: No Man's Sky
It's a game changer. Places the emphasis on base building as opposed to simply exploring. I've probably spent more time on NMS post-update than I did previously.
I think those who refrained from demanding a refund are going to have the last laugh here. We've had two further GB+ patches since Foundations, so Hello Games are having a go.

Re: No Man's Sky
But what is the point of base building in a game that encourages you to keep moving forward...?

Storage and the ability to farm rare resources (and subsequently profit).
You may teleport to your base from anywhere in the universe.

Re: No Man's Sky
Yes, it's all very easy too (find a space station, teleport, back home in seconds and vice versa). You can build on any planet and move at any time too.
Someone made this as a base: https://i.reddituploads.com/e5ec27bb8db ... 3257d07e6e
I've made 35m units in a few days from my Glue factory. Still no way to spend the proceeds yet though so me and my Gek farmer are weighing up sniffing our way to oblivion...
