Finally watched Book of Baba Fett - Firstly as a lifelong Star Wars nerd, why the hell did I skip this.. I loved it especially episodes 5-7 (no spoilers.) Wonderful stuff. I'm annoyed with myself for reading some reviews that said it was poor and didn't bother, never again. Loved the feel of it, felt like star wars (as a 44 year old remembers it) not like some of the flashy stuff in the later films.

Recommended.

I tend to avoid reviews due to how toxic fandom has become. I enjoyed the series as well as Kenobi, while both are not as good as the Mandalorian I had a good time with both.

Looking forward to Andor, trailers have looked really good.

Was scrolling through YT tonight and saw a video titled Why Marvel Phase Four Sucks!

I wouldn't normally click on the video, but because I have found phase 4 unsatisfying and haven't been able to put a finger on why, and because the video was made by a woman, my curiosity was peaked. It's an interesting op-ed, and I must say, I think she makes some good points.

Is it because it's doing everything in its powers to be 'en vogue"

Chinese heroes
Female villains,
Muslim heroes
Gay Loki
Black Captain America is tackling race issues.
Gender defining Eternals

I've heard phase 5's villain will be Steve Rogers why? - because he's a straight caucasian male.. Boooo!

I cant recall No way Home touching on any of the above. - is that why it was a smash?

I enjoyed and thought it was well presented. Good job it is a woman (can I assume that). They'd be demonitised already if not. It is not the only issue for me, as discussed on here the films in particular are just too 'big' no one cares about Super-Super Gods etc. This is why Spiderman worked it, was about people (even ones with powers.)

The conclusion was very well put I thought (last 4 minutes if you don't want to watch it all)

Though as a white man am I allowed an opinion on this :winker:

More from the "WTF are WB doing" file:
- Aquabro 2 has been delayed nine months, from 17-Mar-2023 to 25-Dec-2023 (surely that date can't be correct?).
- Shazam 2 moved from 21-Dec-2022 to 17-Mar-2023.

I quite enjoyed the first Wonder Woman but had to turn the sequel off less than half way. Dire.

For all the praise it got, No Way Home was nowhere near the first two Raimi movies. Poor old Tom Holland wasn’t in the class of Garfield and Maguire as an actor either.

3rd ep was the weakest, but so far I'm enjoying the show, without being blown away by it

If you didn't like the first 3 eps of She-Hulk, you're certainly not going to like the 4th - by far the weakest of the series so far, a classic Marvel mid-series slump episode.

After sitting through episode 3 and knowing 4 is even worse, I don't think I'll bother.

And now despite enjoying Thor Ragnarok, Love and Thunder about an hour in is absolutely terrible. Tonally a mess, lame comedy and forced.

Someone needs to tell Waititi he's nowhere near funny as he thinks he is.

Yep - the more I think about L&T the less I like it - structurally it's a horrible mess, and tramples all over both the 'Mighty Jane' storyline and the God Butcher in favour of an unending series of pathetically unfunny "jokes".

If Waititi writes and directs Thor 5, I doubt I'll even bother to watch it. If he's acting in it as well, I definitely won't
