Re: Brexit referendum result aftermath
In my trade, less cheap labour increased wages that were stagnant for what seems a lifetime. So it worked. And there is no shortage of work. And wages are good. So yes it worked.

Re: Brexit referendum result aftermath
You said Macron was asked by Zelensky to visit Putin. The only person to suggest this was Macron. Why would Macron lie? Well, probably because it made him look weak getting big tabled. The peace deal he hoped to get failed. French investments didn't get protection he wanted. French elections. There are lots of reasons.

So you’re saying Macron lied about Zelensky asking him to speak to Putin. Have you any evidence for that? Any at all? Has anyone, Zelensky for example, said that Macron lied? I’m sure you’ll point it out to me if anyone has.

Exactly. Show me where it states Zelensky asked Macron. Zelensky I imagine is too busy to care about Macrons political games.

In your trade. You can read what the data says has happened above.666 hammer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 6:19 am In my trade, less cheap labour increased wages that were stagnant for what seems a lifetime. So it worked. And there is no shortage of work. And wages are good. So yes it worked.

Just another thing that was sold as a big benefit of Brexit that a) hasn't happened b) is being done by a country that's still in the EU.

The argument was it couldn't be cut beyond 5% while in the EU. This was true and still is, ours hasn't been cut beyond since we left on energy (something we can now point the finger at our govt for) but it is 5%. Ireland has just cut 13% to get down to 9%.Danny's Dyer Acting wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 4:59 pm Just another thing that was sold as a big benefit of Brexit that a) hasn't happened b) is being done by a country that's still in the EU.

Re: Brexit referendum result aftermath
Wages have increased, and there is no shortage of work. It may contradict the data you are reading, but it is fact. I know this is not the case for all sectors.
Re: Brexit referendum result aftermath
Yes. Saved me £800 .. great budget target those who can afford to do these projects rather than those who actually need help
Not saying 0% isn't the right thing to do but the timing when cost of living is rising was misjudged

I didn’t say they hadn’t increased. They have increased more for the better off. The less well off are getting less well off in relative and absolute terms.666 hammer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 6:52 pm Wages have increased, and there is no shortage of work. Re: Brexit referendum result aftermath
Now they can, but the UK was told when in the EU to raise vat on renewables. The EU has since back tracked.

In June 2015, the European Court of Justice upheld a ruling that the UK’s scope of the application of the 5% VAT was too wide, representing an infraction of EU-wide laws. It appeared the UK Government was set to comply with the ruling and apply the higher VAT rate through the Finance Bill, March 2016.

And the rich are getting richer. I don't remember hearing remain cry for checkout workers, or factory workers, trades people when their labour was cheap. The inflation rate will go up, mainly because of lockdown, and now China has locked down again. Gas, oil prices rising. Devalued sterling. The EU are suffering the same. The point is now we can make changes ourselves, without waiting approval. The next challenge is to get a decent government.

You are concerned about devalued Sterling? Take a look at what it has done since June 23 2016.666 hammer wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 4:30 am And the rich are getting richer. A decent government wouldn’t elect to leave the EU.

Yes. Not that this matters, as your voting choice is never going to align directly with your beliefs and will partly be dictated by your constituency make up as a result of our voting system.Hummer_I_mean_Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 8:19 am Did you vote lib-dem?
