No, we can control lots of other things as well. We just made some choices that resulted in bad outcomes. It should come as no surprise that blame EU voters blame the EU.

I think I was always quite proud of the strength of a UK passport and the options it provided
How does a UK passport differ to those of other countries of the World (genuine question)?

It was ranked in the top 5 for many years due to free travel around Europe, Commonwealth etc. Now (I think) we just make it into the top 20.Francoisvander or else wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 9:22 am I think I was always quite proud of the strength of a UK passport and the options it provided

Re: Brexit referendum result aftermath
Ive been to Europe 6 times this year, on each occasion the maximum I've queued is 30 mins, its always worse at UK airports coming back.dasnutnock3 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 9:28 am It was ranked in the top 5 for many years due to free travel around Europe, Commonwealth etc. Now (I think) we just make it into the top 20.
On a side note, in my experience we are only queuing for a different thing, pre Brexit we waited 30 mins for a the cases to come off, post Brexit you wait 30 mins for the passport stamp and the cases are almost ready by the time you get through

We can't control the EU allowing UK passports through easily, we can control us allowing EU passports through easily. That's all that's being discussed.

We gave up that control, by choice. There also used to be quite good at exercising our soft power.SammyLeeWasOffside wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 10:46 am We can't control the EU allowing UK passports through easily, we can control us allowing EU passports through easily. You started discussing friendliness, not me.

I don't like to say "I told you so" but I absolutely ****ing told you so over several pages of this thread back in April '21, only for the Brexit cheerleaders to claim it was a done deal.Hammer1966 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:04 am EU decline UK request to join R&D Programme

London has long since been one of the world's financial centres. That has nothing to do with Brexit.

My initial thought is what effect it will have on interest rates, and indirectly on inflation.

Long overdue unexpected softening on their stance.
A genuine admission of the error of their hard Brexit ways? Is it more of a realisation of the mess they are in and the need to ease trading and improve ' growth' in and on the mainland & province?

An old lady just told me that the EU have been running America since 2020 (which they orchestrated) & they're ruining it.
When I expressed skepticism she told me I needed to read more.
She was also wearing a cross around her neck

Re: Brexit referendum result aftermath
Interesting piece in the Telegraph. Like some of us have said, less about Brexit and more about the ineptitude of the people left to try and make it work.
Not quite the i told you so some think it is, more a call for some to pull their finger out and make our relationships with our nearest trading partners work

Re: Brexit referendum result aftermath
All pf the political problems we’ve had since Cameron are a direct result of Brexit.
People made doomsday predictions about the left of the Labour party if Corbyn became PM, but it’s the right of the Tory party that has been ****ing us all for the last 6 years.
