As it has been 7 years since Fallout 3, Bethesda are due to announce Fallout 4 tomorrow. Can not wait for this!

The only game I can say I've completely gone gaga over is Fallout 4.
New Vegas was not bad but it was in no way as brilliant an experience as Fallout 3.

My lord, I may explodicate in my undercrackers.

Nice.

Is it just me or does that have a certain touch of Final Fantasy 7 about it?

I notice on the back of the announcement Steam (remember when Steam was ****?) are selling all Fallout tiles at 50%.

I do worry though. Every franchise, Elder Scrolls RPG, Dragon Age even GTA evolved their graphics and storylines inline with graphic and processor advancement. Elder Scrolls for example; there is no graphical relationship or coherency between Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim although the lore hangs together. And that is not an issue, the graphical advancements more than make up for the distortion in your imagining of the world.

Bethesda (going on a tiny, not necessarily gameplay trailer) seem determined to stay loyal to their generations old graphical vision? They will have to go some not to make it feel like a 7 year wait for a DLC..... Duck and Cover 60's nostalgia is fitting, but the adherence to the one graphical vision could change?

Borderlands is a case in point. I love their graphics, love the games, but I didn't even consider buying their pre-sequel whatever it was called, even though people I trust said it was their funniest yet, just because it looked like every other Borderlands game to date.

Is this a real gripe? Is this a genuine coherent storytelling over graphical content concern? Or am I just fickle? Do i demand the same from other media?

I understand the gripe about graphics to some degree as it has been mentioned a lot. However looking back at the history, Fallout 1, 2 and 3 looked like **** compared to games of the time, they were just a lot stronger in every other aspect.

I will take a graphical downgrade if it means I get I good world map and over 200 hours of fun gameplay and story.

It will be a great game

Can't f*cking wait for this. I enjoyed Fallout 3, but New Vegas was something else for me. The DLC Blood Money (the Sierra Madre casino thing) was some of the best gameplay I've experienced; I absolutely loved how difficult it was, especially on hardcore mode, starting with no equipment and having to scavenge for supplies, along with your HP slowly decaying.

You liked that DLC?
I friggin' despised it. It was tough going and some of the set pieces annoyed me. I did enjoy killing the Ghoul, mind.

I'm hoping in some ways they remove the VATS option for something else, or a lite version of it.

Just felt distracting at times and detracted at times from the real world atmosphere the game creates.

Indeed I did, I read some reviews of it afterwards and the majority shared your view, opinions eh. It was a frustrating DLC no doubt, but the tension of some parts were unparalleled. For example, when you were in the casino, your collar starts beeping, you know there's a radio somewhere, and you're desperately searching for it as the beeping gets faster. I absolutely loved the story as well, I found all of the companions' backstories fascinating, and how it tied in with the other two DLCs (not including the weird amazon forest one, that one I thought was w*nk)

I couldn't be arsed with getting all the gold bars at the end though.

On June 14th Bethesda are hosting their own talk at E3, I'm sure more details will emerge then such as a release date.

I'll post when I find out.

Fallout 3 is probably my favourite game of all time. I loved the choice of blasting Megaton or not (did you choose to live there or the tower?), and the way it shifted gameplay. Loved the Republic of Dave and all the quirky stuff. Didn't think New Vegas had quite the same character, though it had its moments. Fallout 4 is the only game on the horizon I'll be pre-purchasing.

All those gold bars could be taken using some glitch as you left the vault. Not sure of the entire value but it would have been a doozy.
And ghost people are ****ing arseholes.
