Re: Michail Antonio
After the fact it kind of made me chuckle seeing Nobes try to refrain Mic from jumping into the fracas. Mic looks at with a 'are you kidding?' look on his face and brushes him off like some crumbs on his lapel. That said, of all the players to get stuck into that nonsense, Mic is the one we could least afford to lose.
Re: Michail Antonio
He was outstanding yesterday and what I loved the most was that he was clearly playing with an injury yet still ran himself into the ground for the team. A really unselfish performance, full of heart and effort. He showed a football intelligence in terms of chasing, closing down and team play that he really doesn’t get the plaudits I feel he deserves. Billic made some top signings but he was my favourite, something kind of old school and romantic about players being signed from the lower leagues and making a real success of the step up and they appreciate that just a little bit more.

I think your seeing shadows where none exist mate...Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 4:31 pm I am assuming that solo lap honour with the waves means he is definitely off...
He is our top scorer this season so deserves one...

Re: Michail Antonio
Really?
Why woukd he walk ahead of anyone else for a solo lap and wave to the crowd in that fashion?
If he isn't leaving that was very odd

Been an exceptional player for us and may even still have one more heroic moment in him to become a Legend.
But we also might have seen something today when we had to play in a way that couldn’t rely on powering the ball up to a physical beast frontman…

He has another year left on his 100k contract & he's 33 now...Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 5:09 pm Really?

Who's going to buy him..?
Unless he decides to retire I'd say he'll be here next season...

Re: Michail Antonio
He was definitely separated from everyone else doing their lap ~ went first and stayed on his own... No family with him..
Seemed like Micky was soaking it up for himself ~ and it wouldn't surprise me if he did leave this summer after watching that. I hope he doesn't. A fit and firing Antonio off the bench would be terrifying for an exhausted defender after 70 mins.

Re: Michail Antonio
I'm convinced he was holding back some tears as he walked past our corner with his name being sung.
I really don't want him to go. There's no reason he can't be just as effective a weapon off the bench for one more year.

Re: Michail Antonio
Ive felt that Antonio made the decision to go a while ago... and much of it is family / life related moreso than just about West Ham per se.
I'd say thank you and wish him well if he does... hes been at the core of a lot of our good in the last decade.
It doesnt therefore surprise me if he did have a small, muted goodbye today.
He will be big shoes to fill

If he goes, he will always be welcome at West Ham ala Carlton. He’s a West Ham fan for life, join the club!

Re: Michail Antonio
I just thought perhaps he had somewhere else to be and didn’t want to mooch slowly around the pitch. Thought perhaps he was in a rush and trotted off down the tunnel asap as he wanted to be off somewhere. Especially if he was going to see everyone again next season anyway.

Re: Michail Antonio
Not going to clog up the Scamacca thread, but just want to comment on the below Tweet in regards to Mic.
I truly hope his time at the club is done, because him running off his mouth on social media channels, isn't in my book, appropriate for a player currently playing. If he wants a media/social media career, then good for him - but f*** me, he needs to take a second to think before he opens his gob - but then, I guess when he does take a second to think on a football pitch, he generally fluffs his lines, perhaps if he took a second to think when he's appearing on the channels he may also fluff his lines and stop coming out with disruptive b*llocks.
Get rid.
Quite what he is thinking when a week before our first cup final since 2006, he opens his gob basically having a pop at the manager, if not his team mate - either one is a bit wanky - I have no idea.

Re: Michail Antonio
I think this is his last game for the club. Let’s hope it’s an epic performance.
Been a great player for us. And hopefully it can all end well where all this podcast silliness doesn’t have to leave a bad taste and can be a footnote to it all.
