The worse part was when he held the ball way, way too long against Leeds and then chose the wrong option to Bowen for 2-0.

Get rid.

In the FA Cup game the commentator, whoever it was, spent a lot of time emphasising how much Antonio offers off the ball, or on the ball but not necessarily as the main creator/assist maker, to the team. He was crucial in both goals in that game, although obviously only got the assist for the second.

Noticed him doing similar things last night against Norwich, although not leading to goals, he was pulling defenders out from their position to deal with him and making space for others, which Bowen clearly profited from.

Very glad that we extended his contract, I think he has a lot to offer going into the future as well.

I point this very fact out last night on the match thread after a few posters said he had a poor first half (stinker I think was the word used), he made the space Bowen exploited. I did however expect him to make more of an impact second half as the defenders tired, he almost did, should have scored with the excellent turn and (poor) shot.

Same on corners, they are often so focused on Mike, other players can find space.

He's like a medieval war machine that trundles around, capturing defenders' attention while our assassins slip in via the side gate.

Or something.

Shame he didn't get the goal his performance deserved. Good to see someone else grabbing goals though!

There's something in this. I watched back his premier league goals, he used to have a right leap on him.

Since the start of last season he's scored 3 headed goals, none of them he's left the ground.

Not just a comment based on today.
Imo, massive downtrend this season, to the point where his greediness and lack of ability to bring others into the game, is starting to affect the performance of other plasyers.

If Bowen had scored, which he should have done, he would have had two assists

Excellent assist but otherwise a bit of an off day for Mickey. We need to get someone else in to rotate/support him

8 goals and 6 assists this season, only Salah and Bowen are putting in numbers as good as that.

In his defence, the ****ing stupid ball down the line (or throw-in) to him when he's got two big defenders on him and somehow expecting him to roll them both must get on his tits a bit. Particularly when there's two or three other options who aren't being closely marked.

I thought he seemed very slow in his mind today. He often reacted far too late to pressure or seemed to expect to have significantly more time despite it being obvious there were numerous Leeds players around him.
