Re: Trump
Ooh boy. This is the grand jury foreman, apologies, foreperson, in the Trump Georgia election meddling probe. She might be perfectly competent, but if so, they really should reconsider wheeling her out to talk to the media, all IMO of course. This isn't a good look. And btw, I'm sure the prosecutors will ripping their hair out because this will be manna for Trump's defense team to back their 'everyone is out to get us' platform. As Gerry Rafferty once said, clowns to the left of us, clowns to the right....
Seriously. WTF? WT Actual F?

Re: Trump
He's saying he's going to get arrested on Tuesday and wants his supporters to 'protest' again.
Could be an interesting week.

Re: Trump
Hearing the MAGA’s plan to surround Mar-a-Lago to protect him from being arrested. That will go down well.
MAGA’s seem to believe that only people they deem criminals like the Bidens, Fauci, Hillary etc are only worth arresting.
Trump is doing it to protect them… or something….

Re: Trump
That would be a very MAGA thing to do. Barricade Mar a Lago to keep the Feds out all while Trump is being indicted in Manhattan where he has turned himself in. He won’t even be in Florida.

Re: Trump
Reading some of these comments by trump supporters on how to protect him from the government.
It's hilarious & scary at the same time.
I doubt if he'll be arrested on Tuesday & I doubt if there'll be a repeat of January 6th when he is. However, I don't doubt that he's received another several million (or more) in donations since he said he's going to be arrested on Tuesday.
The greatest conman in history.

Re: Trump
This is brilliant.
They're massing on the streets of New York.
I'm sure the media are loving this. Their advertising revenue is going to go through the roof.

Re: Trump
Naive question here, I mean I don't like Trump one litte bit, but what law has been broken by paying the brass hush money? 'Out of Court' settlements seem to be common over in the US and here. Does it mean he lied under oath in a previous law court, or is there alleged coercion involved?

Re: Trump
Evidently he used Party/Campaign funds...not his own personal stash....but then paid it back..don't really see the logic, vietnammer wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 5:32 pm Naive question here, I mean I don't like Trump one litte bit, but what law has been broken by paying the brass hush money? In 2016, adult film star Stormy Daniels contacted media outlets offering to sell her account of what she said was an adulterous affair she had with Donald Trump in 2006.
Mr Trump's team got wind of this, and his lawyer Michael Cohen paid $130,000 to Ms Daniels to keep quiet.
This is not illegal. However, when Mr Trump reimbursed Mr Cohen, the record for the payment says it was for legal fees. Prosecutors say this amounts to Mr Trump falsifying business records, which is a misdemeanour - a criminal offence - in New York.
Prosecutors could also potentially allege that this breaks election law, because his attempt to hide his payments to Ms Daniels was motivated by not wanting voters to know he had an affair with her. Covering up a crime by falsifying records would be a felony, which is a more serious charge.

Re: Trump
Is this stuff not going to just increase the chances of people voting for him?
The best way to deal with Trump is to starve him of oxygen. Fold your arms and turn your back and he’ll have no choice but to carry on preaching to the converted maniacs at Mar-a-Lago all day. But put him in a courtroom and let him bang on about Golden Eagles and Mexicans for 6 months and he’ll end up back in the ****ing White House.

Re: Trump
It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
He got 63 million votes in 2016 then 74 million votes in 2020.
Hillary got 66 million in 2016 then Biden got 81 million in 2020.
So he was out voted by 5% then 10%.
Not sure if he can get new votes. But voting doesn't follow normal patterns anymore so who knows

Re: Trump
Think there was a similar case brought against Bill Clinton, for maybe even lying in court, about giving Monica Lewisnki a 'pearl necklace' ? That was rather a witch-hunt too, costing $ millions, Didn't work. Think we're talking Legal Eagles here and Trump might litigate his way out of it. Pump up the flatbeds in the rust belt!last.caress wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 7:20 pm From the Beeb (LINK):

Re: Trump
That's probably true but if he has broken the law he shouldn't get to avoid facing the consequences just because he's a pain in the arse.Turns to Stone wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 8:14 pm Is this stuff not going to just increase the chances of people voting for him?

Re: Trump
trump has received more than $1.5 million in donations since he tweeted that he was going to be arrested.
So a load of people sent him money for something that nobody ever said was going to happen except him.
And it didn't happen. Do they get a refund

Re: Trump
Time we looked at setting up a bogus account, pay for the tick and all. Could do with a cash injection about now.
