Re: Trump
Further proof, as if any were needed, of how screwed up Donald is. Don't they have a party structure where they are encouraged to show solidarity and support for other members? Guess our parties go through similar when rivals vie for leadership.
Instead, he's lashing out like a bull moose having his harem threatened.

Re: Trump
Question for Shabs /WC/other US Hammers,
If Trump were to lose in the primaries to De Santis, given that he seems to attract quite a lot of cash just by running, would he run as an independent?

Re: Trump
No, he couldn't because he was affiliated with the party during the primary election. If he knew he wasn't going to beat DeSantis before hand, he could go independent or switch to another party that isn't GOP or Dem before the primaries. I'm not sure how long before the primaries he'd have to switch. The Libertarian and Green candidates are on the ballot but you rarely hear about them. They never get invited to the debates. An independent can get on the presidential ballot, but the candidate has to petition the states individually to get listed on the ballot. There are other requirements as well. It wouldn't be worth it for him. He'd lose most Republican voters and there aren't enough MAGA fringe voters to have any kind of impact, apart from damaging DeSantis's tallies.

Re: Trump
I thought it was only Vice Presidents that were called Vice President forever (unless they later became a President).
Presidents after leaving office are supposed to be called Former President or by the actual number of President that they were.

Re: Trump
after last week's results I think the Republican party would be backing a loser if they let him run again.
bloke on the radio the other day also made a great point.
DeSantis could run for TWO terms (hypothetical) whereas the Don wouldn't get re-elected for a second term so they would be looking at another "head" of the party anyway. why not go the DeSantis route to begin with.
merely a point, and not a specific discussion point....

Re: Trump
That is a good point, especially when the Dems don't have as clear and strong a front runner. It'll be interesting. The GOP has been banking on the silver haired retirees to carry them and completely dismissed the Greta Thunberg like newly registered voters, assuming the kids would stay home as they always have. And they've spent the last few years campaigning on silencing the "woke" generation. Well, the kids gave them a smackdown, a serious wake up call. WHat's more, when the GOP run Senate had the opportunity to remove Trump from office after he was impeached a second time, they doubled down on making him their champion, essentially tying all of the House Reps and Senators to his bandwagon. They may pay for that in the long term.

Re: Trump
Kari Lake, an ex news reporter turned trumpy maga muppet, lost her bid for Governor of Arizona against Democrat Katie Hobbs.
Lake, who ran mainly using "The 2020 election was stolen from trump" nonsense is now claiming that the election was stolen from her
And trump is backing her up

Re: Trump
Yep. GOP won the majority in the House which means that the Jan 6 Committee and investigation will be dissolved and binned. That doesn't mean the DOJ stop their investigation, but then again it might. Bad news for the don is that Rupert Murdoch announced today that he a would not be backing the don. If trump persists he could do serious damage to the Republican party. He may end up tearing it apart.

Re: Trump
trump could make a lot of money out of this run. Which is all he cares about. He doesn't give a f*ck if he ruins the Republicans or America, as long as he makes money. And power. But mainly money.
There are areas of America where 75% of people are trump supporters. The media they listen to is all pro trump & everyone they know is all pro trump/jesus/freedom/whiteamericaisthebest nonsense.
That 25/30% will support him no matter what.
It will be interesting to watch the republicans who at first denounced him then embraced him now denounce him again but if he gets popular again will they start to love him again?

Re: Trump
Well my KUMB friends and brethren across the Atlantic: If you let him in again, his only order of business will be to ensure he can never be unseated. Your shaky democracy, which this crook has already been allowed to push to its untested limits for nought but his own personal gain, is in genuine jeopardy. And this time you'll only have yourselves to blame (not those of you who vote Dem or who at least don't vote for Trump; but as a nation in general). Because this time nobody can kid themselves about what they're voting for.
And that it should all come to this for Donald ****ing Trump of all people. Absolute madness.
