I don't know the family but Jack lives in the adjoining village to us. If you didn't know the area you might be surprised how many West Ham there are around here. Donated. Good luck to the lad.

Well played Everton - that's the way to do it

Regardless of requests from other West Ham fans for surgery, help etc or the positive publicity it would bring...
When you have a Lottery winning season in regards to funds, pay your players astronomical amounts of money, fly yourself around in Private Jets and Helecopters...The decent thing to do is come together as a club and cover the cost of saving this poor young hammers life. 5K doesn't touch the sides

I believe all charitable donations should be made privately .

I hope young Jack hits his target , and I hope the young Sunderland fan does likewise .

However, Everton FC have now made a rod for their own back , as sure as **** there will be an Everton supporter in a similar position in the not too distant future ....and they will then feel obliged to donate at least as much .

As for WHU's donation , I would never throw it back in their face as I'm sure they mean well .They did however find twice as much money to donate to a political party recently .

Kind of sums up how I feel PP. Although I don't agree donations should be made publicly. Most of these charities or fund pages only gain momentum because of people raising awareness by donating and spreading the message. Had that not happened in the first place this page would prob still be under a grand or so.

I think the club is taking a bit of flak for their donation. A donation should never be thrown in someones face but as has been discussed, amount is under half of that donated to a political party that should have no affiliation with WHU. That coupled with Everton's donation has made it look rather tight. I do hope we offer a bit more now.

David Sullivan has donated £5000 too (which hasn't been reported to my knowledge)

I agree, the club could have given more, but it's not the only donation from within the club.

latest news was that Jack has travelled to the US now and that the deposit for treatment (circa $100k) has been secured via the crowd funding

Wishing this little fella nothing but good luck from here on in

I met his family outside the stadium raising funds
Although why they had to do that in the first place still makes me feel a bit sick

So brave and so tragic
RIP JACK

RIP little man. Devastating news and as others have said, really does put things into perspective.

Not until I became a dad myself did things like this affect me as much as they do now but even though I didn't know the lad nor know his family, it absolutely breaks my heart reading this tragic, tragic news. I can't imagine what his family are going through.

Love and thoughts to them and again, RIP young Jack :crest:
