Just seeing that Gina Carano has been fired from The Mandalorian for "offensive", actually LucasFilm called them "abhorrent" posts on social media.

* I had said here that I thought Disney was overstepping in dropping her, but I'm deleting that line until I read more about it. I had only read the NYT article and before I make a definitive statement like Disney overstepped, I've decided to research this more to make sure I lnpw what I'm talking about*

Excellent. Simplicity is best. Possibly the best output from the studio/s since Jedi.

As for the 'western' link on the previous page, it seems quite clear to me the Mandalorian was paying homage to Clint Eastwood's character in the Leone trilogy.

I personally enjoyed Gina Carano’s character but her missing from season 3 won’t affect anything. I kind of get the double standards argument (James Gunn) but it doesn’t excuse that free speech does not mean you are immune from the consequences of what you say.
She was given multiple chances to shut it down and she failed to comply.
Comparing being a conservative in today’s times to Jews in the Holocaust was a stretch though.
I highly doubt she would have been shafted had she said she simply feels oppressed as a conservative but the minute you attempt to compare that to the 6 million who died and millions who suffered under the Nazis then its only going to go one way.

Indeed. Also thought the credits had a whiff of The High Chapparrel about them.

Bloody great The Mandalorian was. An exercise in how to get it right.

Indeed, Disney have now made clear comparing things to the holocaust is a no go.

This should be interesting then.

And in some cases it becomes a spaghetti western and Shogun at the same time.

I’m curious if he was spoken about posting items such as this and if he has posted anything else since.

Book of Boba Fett trailer is out. Nothing that interesting to see in the trailer necessarily, but if it follows the tone of The Mandalorian I'm sure it will satisfy. I'm looking forward to this series. I'm fairly certain I heard Mando's voice in there, so he must be making a cameo.

Started The Mandalorian last night. Gonna watch ep 1 again tonight as I reckon Mrs Eggs will quite like it too.

Really liked it. :newthumb:

Only just re-signed up to Disney+ having ditched it once I'd seen season 2 of The Mandalorian, so I've some catching up to do. Currently watching Star Wars: Visions which I think is ****ing brilliant so far. Beautiful, atmospheric, familiar yet fresh and different. I'd be happy to see any of these shorts expanded into something more substantial and I'd love to see more Star Wars in anime form. It's a terrific marriage of subject and medium imho.

Binged right through The Book of Boba Fett over two sessions. Could've done without the Power Ranger shop-mobility scooters but, on the whole, I rather enjoyed it. Loved the rancor.

I thought Rogue One was rubbish. Well, maybe not rubbish, but absolutely pointless. Nah, it was rubbish. That being the case I don’t much see the point in this mini series. I realize I was in a minority who had this opinion re: Rogue 1.

I've got zero enthusiasm for this Kenobi show. I've no doubt I'll be looking in on it eventually but... meh.
