Sad news indeed. RIP.
Tomorrow will be his funeral.
Ironically he would've been attending tomorrows game against Crystal Palace along with other Belgian Irons.....

Only scored one hat-trick for us. Away at Notts County in the League cup, only 7,000 people there.bender wrote:Saw him score the goal at white hart lane, and the Boxing Day hatrick v Swansea.....a terrific player, such awful news , far too young
In fact this was the only game for us that he scored more than one goal in.
Notts County were in the old first division then.

Re: Francois van der Elst R.I.P.
What a shame.
I was there at Brighton when he made his debut. How I wish I was there when he scored at Spurs and I was there at Coventry last game of the season when we were signing "Don't go Francois, don't go Francois"
He was a class act. A player from the past that could easily have done well in today's game

Why was there not a min applause for Frankie today??
edit... just seen match thread that it was before the players even came out so most fans will have missed it... we really are clueless.

I was there at the Heysell stadium when he tore us aprt in the European Cup Winners Cup Final in '76.
Gave old Frank Lampard a torrid time.

Very upset that a proper minutes silence was not afforded to such a popular former player .
He deserved better than a two thirds empty stadium .
Bad darts West Ham .
